How I Met Gregg Alexander

How I Met Gregg Alexander

Well, it finally happened... After 8 long months of working on this site, I've gotten enough attention to get to go into a radio station studio and talk to Gregg while he was promoting "Someday We'll Know"! And let me say, Gregg is MUCH nicer than I thought he would be. I'm not sure why, but I expected him to act like some sort of stuck up rock star, but he was really a very down-to-Earth nice guy.

First of all, I'll let you know how I got to go to meet him in the first place. A couple of weeks ago I as informed by a very nice person from MCA Records that Gregg would be touring all over the United States really quickly by him self to promote "Someday We'll Know".

I found out what radio stations he would be going to and I emailed all of them... Out of 5 stations, only one actually replied. That was SETS 102.1 FM. I found out a number to call to see if I would be able to get in and since I figured that they wouldn't let just anybody in to see Gregg live, I figured I'd email another friend of mine who works for a company called M-80 and ask him to call the radio station and explain how big of a fan I am and see if I could go. I was only half serious when I asked, but a few hours after I emailed the guy from M-80, he told me that the radio station said it should be fine for me to go!

The next day, I was so hyped up I couldn't contain myself! I got dressed and packed stuff to get autographed. I picked up my friend and we headed out to the radio station's studio. We got there a few minutes early, so we waited on the couch.

Then, Gregg and 3 other people walked through the door. I was absolutly shocked! I couldn't believe I was there and that it was all real! So I sat there and waited through the sound check untll my friend and I were allowed to go into the sound room. When the program director told us we could go back, we walked into the room and I could see Gregg through the glass. He was sitting checking his guitar and he turned for a second and I couldn't contain myself anymore, so I smiled really big and waved. So I waited behind the glass with my friend while he played.

After an extended version of "You Get What You Give", he did a quick interview and when that was over, they played "Someday We'll Know" from the CD. Gregg stood up and walked into the room I was in. I introduced myself and we shook hands. (For some strange reason, I felt like I was on an episode of "FANatic" on MTV... LOL!)

He then asked if the radio people could leave us alone. So then we just talked and stuff. Then after about 10 minutes I asked him if he'd sign some stuff for me. I got my CD signed twice, my poster, my hat, and a piece of paper for a friend all autographed. Then we took a picture and the we all said 'good-bye' and shook hands again. The funny thing is, he said "Thanks for coming down"... He was acting like I was the person who he wanted to meet. Yeah right. But then as we were walking away, he nudged my arm and said "I'll see you around!" because he'll be coming back next January and I have my ways of getting free tickets...

Well, like I said, finally I got to meet him! I couldn't be happier about it! :-D
