Shel and Kally Meet

The Meeting

On Saturday, August 24, Shel drove for six hours with his friend Corey to visit a horse he bought sight unseen. He carried with him a saddle he had purchased a year before in hopes of someday adopting a horse, 20 pounds of carrots and a bag of apples. He had never met us either. It was going to be a moment of truth for all of us. It was wonderful. We felt like we had known Shel for years. We kept Shel's anticipation at a high by introducing him to Twist first. When we finally took him to meet Kally, it was love at first sight.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Shel, Bob and Corey went for a nice ride while I worked with Magik. We were able to get a halter on him and he took his first walk on a lead. That evening we all went to dinner before crashing in exhaustion to dream of the days events. Before closing his eyes Shel had to read 100 pages of a Parelli Natural Horsemanship book and watch his promotional video.

Sunday Shel and Corey came over to ride one more time before they had to return to Northern California. Poor Corey had an accidental dismount and took a very close look at the desert follage. Corey had a few scrapes and bruises to take home along with a piece of mesquite to help remember the eventful weekend spent in Inyokern.

It really was a great weekend and we feel we have new friends and Kally has a wonderful new dad.
