Character Background Help
This file is to help anyone having problems fleshing out their characters. Simply
follow
throught the sections answering the questions and write down a short answer. Then
take
and write your characters background using your answeres.
1. Early History/ Family/ Childhood
Exactly where and when was your character born?
Under what circumstances was he/she born (i.e. Was he/she wanted?,
Adopted?)
Any major events happening in the region while he/she was growing up?
Any imediat family? if so how does he/she get along with them? how many brothers
and
sisters does he/she have? what are their names? what are they doing now?
Any major events in his/her families history? Fortunes made lost? migrations?
lost
members? found members? crimes?
Is he/she well educated? Where and under who did they study?
2 Recent History/ Adulthood
Where is he/she living now?
Is he/she patriotic about there locale?
What are his/her living conditions?
How is he/she making a living?
Who are His/her close friends?
How did they become good friends?
Does he/she have a love or exclusive relationship with anyone? who?
Who does he/she deal with on a frequent basis? why?
Does anyone dislike him/her? is this person active on the hate or passive about it?
why
does this person hate them?
Does he/she have any enemies with deep rooted hatred? blood feudes, vendettas?
why?
how are they acting out this hatred in relation to him/her??
Any marking event in his/her recent past? Did he/she commit a crime? any acts of
great
philantropy/ heroism?
3. Motivations
What is his/her imediate goals with in the next year?
What does he/she want out of life at the moment?
What are his/her long term goals? next five years? ten? twenty? what does he/she
want
out of life in the long run? fame? fortune? land? enemies crushed? nothing?
What type of person briefly would his/her mate be?
Who is his/her parton diety if any? is he/she a devoted worshiper?
Is he/she a member of a nonereligious cause? (i.e. is he/she a loyal servent to a
king,
barron, organization etc.?)
What are his/her greatesr fears?
What are his/her greatest hopes?
What is one task he/she absolutely refuses to do?
4. Character
What is the character's motto or favorite saying?
What is his/her favorite color?
What would he/she wear if money where no object? how does he/she normaly
dress?
What is his/her favorite food?
What is his/her favorite drink?
What is his/her favorite animal?
What habits of his/her friends annoy him most?
What are his/her pet peeves, if any?
Does he/she have any mannerisms?
Does he/she have any distingishing marks?
