  Blackhawks 1998

We made it to the 1998 Pee Wee Division Super Bowl! However we fell short against a team we had defeated

before. Defeating a team three times in a row is rare, defeating a well coached team three

times is almost impossible. The 1998 Tustin Cobras were a very well coached team. They put

their previous losses behind them and focused on the game they were playing.

It was a very good, well played game,

a great win for the Cobras.

We congratulate you.

The BLACKHAWK Family will be faced with many organizational problems for the 1999

season. First problem is team orientation. We have been, and are currently, a passing team.

At the next level, Jr. Midget Division, team size and strength are of foremost concern. In the past

we have been on the physically small, speedier side. A 'West Coast' type of offense. At the Jr. Midget

level however, the weight limits go up about twenty-five (25) pounds. Basically this means we will

be looking at a lot of new players at our skilled positions. The Play-Offs are a preview of the 'next

level' Division. Under ideal conditions, we win. Under adverse conditions our game basis,

(speed), is neutralized for the lack of a sustainable and creditable ground game. This point was

made clear in the 1998 Conference Play-Offs.

The Conference Championship game was played in the rain against the

Compton Oilers (Champions '96), another passing team. Bad footing affected both teams

through two quarters, we managed a 12-0 win, scoring late in the 3rd quarter.

The Super Bowl was played following three days of rain, in a 'mud pit' against a 'run-oriented'

team (Tustin Cobras 1998). The Cobras' game plan suited the conditons perfectly, their coaches

used their strenghts effectively.

Again, a great win for a great team.

The Inglewood Jr. All-American Football League fielded eleven (11) teams for the 1998

Orange County Jr. All-American Football Conference season. Seven (7) teams earned play-off

positions, three (3) contested in the six Divisional Super Bowls:

Aztecs
(Jr.Clinic Super Bowl)

Redskins
(Jr.PeeWee Super Bowl)

Blackhawks
(PeeWee Super Bowl)

The Aztecs compiled the best record in

the League, 9-0, their only loss coming in the Super Bowl to the Mission Viejo Cowboys.

Of the three contenders the Redskins had the most exciting game. Against the returning

Champions ('97), South Orange County Patriots, the Redskins fought through two overtimes

(12-12, 18-18). On a 4th down pass-play, in the 3rd O/T, the receiver lost his footing in the mud,

game over: 24-18.

All in all a good showing for the League

We bid good-bye to most of the players of 1998 Sentinels.

Well done, THANKS.

Many thanks also to those former Seminoles ('92-'96) and Sentinels ('97), who came back to help with the Jr. Clinic teams ('98). True champions never forget their beginnings, and always (say 'always') give something back. These young men and ladies are to be commended.
THANKS!!!

Blackhawk      Cheerleaders

The Blackhawk Cheerleaders were the highlight of the '98 season. Our Cheer Staff are to be praised and honored for the outstanding work they have done, not only for this year, but for the last four (4) years. These young ladies have been given excellent guidance and grooming, not only for 'on field', but, also for 'off field'.
