01-12-2000

Today we learned of the passing of Mr. Peter Phillips. "Godfather", as he was affectionately, known was an original Blackhawk Staff Member. He was the 'can do' person behind the team's fundraising efforts. He gave much, and asked only that the children have everything that they needed to take the field. It was a privilege to have known him, an honor to have worked with him. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones. He was a good man.

This is a good place to close out the season. The year was great, the season terrific. The Blackhawks will pass into memory for a while. But like the Phoenix, they will rise again, this is a warning!!.

Braves 2000 are coming!! Get ready.

The official League web site is now up and running. Check it out !! Don't forget us though!!!

We gave it a shot. The talent in this Conference is so thick and even, having a winning season is worth celebrating! On behalf of the Braves, I would like to thank all of our competitors for some great games. (Quite a few of them made the play-offs!!) The IJAAFL Staff is to be praised also. Faced with a number of last-minute problems they came through with flying colors. Next season should be a little less hecktic. Special thanks to Commissioner Bob Barna and the Conference Staff for a terrific schedule. I was personally impressed with the improvement in game officiating, did I say that? The balance of the play-offs should be great. We look forward to next season. Remember: "Braves rule!"

Our condolences go out to Sentinel Player Brian Flowers, whose Dad passed away recently. While this writer did not know the senior Mr. Flowers, I know that he supported his son, Brian, in all his endeavors and efforts. The IJAAFL will miss him as a member of the Inglewood Family. Our prayers and best wishes go out to Brian, "Hold on and Stay Strong".
