Right now I have one hundred and sixteen email adresses. "Why?" You ask. I'll tell you. I collect them. Jerry Seinfeld collects porsches, my brother collects baseball card, and I collect (free) email adresses. Now of course just collecting random email adresses isn't good enough, they need to have value. If you are reading this, and I assume that you are, you probably don't know the various aspects of a valuable adress is, so I will try to tell you.
"Hey buddy, what's your email adress?" Some one asks you.
"Pretty Bird at yahoo dot com," (phoenetically) you respond, but you aren't done, because if they try the adress they think you just told them then you won't get the message. "But, it's not spelled like that, it is spelled p-r-i-t-t-i-e-b-u-r-d."
"Huh?" He asks, you frown, wishing your adress was simpler.
"I guess I'll write it down..." you are forced to say because no one will remember an adress like that. You write down the adress on a piece of paper and give it to him.
That little story was meant to illistrate the failures of a bad email adress, and to evoke some thought about adresses that are good. One of your friends might have an adress that you like, why do you like it? It is probably an adress that fits these sorts of criteria:
  • Easy to remember
  • Easy to spell (i.e. not spelled incorectly)
  • Original
  • Flows off the tounge (fun to say)
  • Quick to type (flows off the keyboad)
  • Aesthetically pleasing (i.e. when it's typed it looks good)
  • Humorous
  • Keeps in mind the @ symbol is also a word (clipyournails@hotmail.com)
  • Short
  • Avoidance of the underscore '_'
  • Inside Jokes

There are also personal preferences, for example, I like just about any adress with funk or disco in it (notice not phunk and discko). Not like kjadiscoksaj@ it has to make sense like discoguru@. Now read this example:
"Hey man, what's your email adress?"
"The Disco Doctor at Hot Mail dot com," you gladly report.
"Whoa, that's cool, allright I'll mail you!"
