A Little Story from Soma, San Diego

A Close Encounter of the Vandalic Kind

by Erica Anderson from Orange County, California

SOMA LIVE in San Diego Dec. 31, 1998

Before the concert I had a t-shirt made that was baby yellow and on the front said in black THE VANDALS and on the back in red it said I LOVE WARREN. (if you didn't realize it, I'm a girl so that should clear up any confusion!) So at the concert I made sure with all my punk buddies to get up real close to the stage, up against the silver fence thing. When they were walking on stage we all yelled to Warren to get his attention and he saw me and my shirt and told Josh about it. They were like "Hey! Nice Shirt!" Anyway, during Warren's song, I HAVE A DATE, he got off stage, came over to me with the microphone and asked to trade shirts!!!!! It was so fucking cool, and he got back up there and danced around in my tiny little shirt. We ended up never trading back so his bright orange t-shirt is now hanging on my ceiling. When I went to see them at the Glasshouse, Jan. 16th, I had another shirt made that was pink and slightly different. Warren recognized me and talked a little, and I got to sing a little of LIVE FAST DIARHREA when Dave put the microphone to me. Afterwards they gave me Warren's guitar pick that says THE VANDALS. So those are my wonderful adventures and I can't wait till they play again soon....
