THIS PAST WEEK
(July 5, 2009)
9:15 am - 12:00 pm
Have you ever had a time when someone did something to you that
wasn't nice and later came and said, "I'm sorry"? Maybe someone
called you a name or took something from you without asking your
permission. Did you forgive that person?
This past week in the SPEEDway we heard a story that Jesus told
to a man named Peter. Peter wanted to know how many times we need
to forgive others. He wanted to know what we should do if someone
keeps doing things that aren't right and then keeps asking to
be forgiven. Jesus answered Peter with a story about a servant
who owed a king some money but didn't have the money to pay the
king back. Would the king forgive his servant? Click "HERE" to find out!
Sometimes forgiving others is not easy to do. When people do things
that aren't nice to us, it often makes us very angry. We want
them to pay for what they did so we often treat them unkindly
to "teach them a lesson". But how many times do WE make mistakes?
How many times do we not obey God? Does God forgive us again and
again when we are truely sorry and ask for His forgiveness? He
sure does! And because God forgives us, we need to forgive others,
too.
Before our story, our Sonshiners made crowns and decorated them
with fancy jewels. The crowns can be used to act out the Bible
story we learned about the forgiving king. Learn how you can make
the same crown at home! Just click HERE for the pattern!
During our group time we learned a new song called, "How Many Times Must I Forgive?". This question was once asked of Jesus by Jesus' friend Peter.
Do you know the answer to this question?
