The holidays got me thinking...
Topic: Musings around my table.
Thinking about what's important in life. People are important - especially my family, friends, my associates, my customers and fellow business friends. I care about people.

If I can make a difference in one person's life I'm thrilled. To be able to touch so many people's lives is truly wonderful.

I've negelected my blog here for many months... I let too many things get in the way but I hope to do a better job in the new year!

Wishing you health, happiness and prosperity in 2006!

No problem! Watkins Pro-Stain Rug Cleaner to the rescue.
Excellent for spot removal on carpets and upholstery. Used full strength on those horrible accidents such as vomit, urine or faeces, removes the stain and all traces of the odour. Amazing!

For shampooing rugs, carpets or upholstery add 1 to 2 tbsps to 4 cups of water and clean. Dirt and stains will wash right out.

Take care.

Got A Tough Grease Problem?
Topic: Cleaning House.
Degreaser is great for grease spots on clothing - even if the garment has been washed and dried already! Wet the spot and then put a small amount of full strength degreaser on it, rub gently, let stand for at least 15 - 20 minutes and wash. Result - no more grease stain. Also excellent for lipstick on clothing - just put a little on a damp cloth, rub gently and the lipstick is gone. For greasy work clothes put 1/4 cup in the wash.

Also great for cleaning range hoods & fans. Use diluted for walls and floors. Mix equal parts degreaser & organic cleaner for washing dishes (great for your hands too). Great for mechanics to clean engine parts - cleaning metals etc. The uses are endless, if it’s a grease based product degreaser will remove it in hot or cold water.

Here are some more uses for Watkins degreaser. You'll love this stuff once you try it!

Take care,
Melody

Time For An Oil Change?
Topic: In the Kitchen
From lowering cholesterol to reducing fine lines and wrinkles, it turns out that the oil inside those tiny seeds in grapes has a whole "bunch" of benefits!

Top chefs are now cooking with grapeseed oil because of its amazing effect on enhancing the natural flavours of food. The late Master Chef, Jean Louis Palladin, noticed that his customers always felt good after a meal cooked in grapeseed oil. It's one of the few foods known that not only reduces LDL (the bad cholesterol), but raises HDL (the good cholesterol). This helps to keep arteries clear, which may contribute to another benefit of grapeseed oil—its potential to guard against impotence.

Grapeseed oil contains a high level of antioxidants, including vitamin E, which makes it not only healthy, but very stable; it does not need to be refrigerated, but if chilled it will not cloud up like olive oil. Its high smoke point makes it perfect for grilling or sauteing.

Watkins Grapeseed Oil is available in four gourmet flavours—Original, Garlic & Parsley, Citrus & Cilantro, and Black Pepper—and you'll also find it in our Garlic, Ginger-Garlic and Onion Liquid Spices.

Take care,
Melody

Protect yourself and family from West Nile Virus and more.
Topic: Medicine Chest
Oh, warm weather and the start of summer activities—fishing, camping, boating and mosquito slapping. With disease-carrying mosquitoes just itching to grab a bite to eat, they're no longer just a pest; they're a real threat. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the most effective repellents for protection against West Nile Virus and encephalitis-carrying mosquitoes are those that contain DEET. In a test conducted by The New England Journal of Medicine, non-DEET products offered little or no protection, while DEET-containing products provided full protection for several hours. DEET has a remarkable safety record after 40 years of use and remains the gold standard for protection from disease-carrying insects—it also protects from Lyme-disease carrying ticks, as well as chiggers, biting flies, gnats and fleas. Watkins Insect Repellent contains 23.75% DEET—the amount that provided the most protection in this study—and just enough to keep insects from being a pain in the neck.

Take care,

Watkins Pre-wash is fantastic for pre-treating laundry stains and a whole lot more. Removes grass, ground in dirt, food, coffee, tea, and juice stains from your clothes. All those wonderful stains your whole family runs into in every day.

It also works fantastic for cleaning stained tea and coffee pots, cups, thermoses and dishes.

It's Always a Busy Time of The Year.
Topic: Musings around my table.
Sit down for a minute and enjoy a cup of coffee with me.

It always seems to be a busy time of the year, doesn't it?

I love spring, things start growing, the robins arrive, the sun shines and we don't need our winter coats. But there is yard work, tree pruning, spring cleaning, softball practice... things will be slower in the summer.

I love long lazy summer days but then there is summer work... things will slow down in the fall!

Ahhh, fall with colorful leaves, crisp air, better get ready for winter, and the holidays... things will slow down in the winter.

Winter... oh, well things will slow down in the spring!

It never seems to slow down, an endless merry-go-round. So take a minute sit down and enjoy life.

Go Ahead - Put Your Fine China in the Dishwasher!
Topic: In the Kitchen
A customer tells me she uses her fine china on a regular basis and washes it in her automatic dishwasher. The important thing she said is to use a dishwasher detergent that does NOT contain bleach. That's why she always uses Watkins Organic Automatic Dishwasher detergent as it contains no bleach. Just be careful to load your dishes so they don't bang against each other and chip.

I was so excited! I never use my good china because I don't have time to carefully hand wash it. We'll be eating in style now that I've learned this tip.

Enjoy life to it's fullest,
Melody

A Resolution You can Stick to!
Topic: Musings around my table.
If you're like most people, you've already broken your New Year's Resolution, so don't give up?just make a new one, but this time, make sure it's something you can stick with. Instead of making one big promise that you can't keep, make small changes that you can live with and that require an action to be taken. Eat a piece of fruit every day. Walk the dog every other day. Put $50 in savings every week. Visit a loved one, or someone who needs love, every month.

Small changes or actions every day or every week can make a BIG difference in a year. That $50 you put into savings every week will grow to $2,600 by the end of the year, not counting interest. Eat a piece of fruit everyday?instead of a donut?and you could lose 30 pounds in a year! Walk the dog and you can lose even more weight, more quickly.

Instead of vowing to lose 30 pounds, commit to that piece of fruit everyday?it's a resolution you can stick with, and will help to peel off the pounds. If you need a little support, Watkins TheraTrim Duo, taken daily, can help to control your appetite and boost your metabolism to help you stick with your plan all year long.
