
Playa Conchal is located 2 km south west of Brasilito. It is named for its unique "shell beach". The new Melia Playa Conchal Beach and Golf Resort is situated on 900 lushly landscaped acres directly behind this beach.
It offers lighted tennis courts, gourmet restaurants, immense swimming pool, health club, spa, fine shops, and a magnificent beach just steps away. A championship par 72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. is also located here.
Brasilito is one of the favorite budget vacation spots in Costa Rica. A true Costa Rican "fishing village" that is just beginning to discover that tourist services are good for the community. Brasilito offers camping, low cost cabinas, low cost "sodas", beach access to Playa Conchal as well as its own good beaches.
Brasilito also has several very fine seafood restaurants. Local Saturday night dances and fiestas can also be fun and a good diversion from normal "tourist activities".
Flamingo Beach is regarded as one of the finest white sand beaches in Costa Rica and may well be one of the most scenic Oceanside sites in the world. In this 500 acre area there are luxury homes in the $250,000 to $4,000,000 price range. Their owners are international, coming from Monaco, France, Italy, Belgium, Canada, and the United States.
Flamingo Beach boasts the only full service marina in the country with 70 boat slips, and will eventually accommodate over 200 yachts and Sportfishing boats. There are currently four hotels, various condominium units and Bed & Breakfast facilities that offer basic through luxury service.
Playa Potrero offers a long beach of light gray sand extending over 4 KM along the eastern side of Bahia Potrero. It is well known for its safe swimming, calm waters, spectacular sunsets and ocean views. The local residents are a friendly mixture of Costa Rican, Canadian, American and European decent. Spread throughout the community of Potrero is a wide variety of accommodations ranging from bed & breakfasts, cabina complexes, condominiums and the complete Bahia Potrero Beach Resort. Restaurants range from modest, typical, Costa Rican fare to a variety of international cuisines and fresh seafoods.
Hotel Sugar Beach is nestled alone in a small cove on Playa Pan De Azucar. It is at "the end of the road" with a seclusion and beauty that makes it a true paradise. The Hotel is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a sunny white sand beach. Wildlife abounds in the area, including howler monkeys, iguanas, many species of birds and flowers year round.
A brief list of activites include: Sunning, swimming, napping; Diving and snorkeling, sailing, fishing, horseback riding on the beach; there's a spa in Surfside where you can get massages; for souvenirs go to the Trading Post in Flamingo for supplies or shop at the local grocery store in Brasilito; The best beaches are Sugar Beach, Playa Penca, Playa Grande & Ventana, Playa Conchal, Playa Brasilito, Flamingo Beach, Playa Potrero and Playa Langosta in Tamarindo. Playa Grande is worth the trip forty minutes each way and there's a nice hotel for lunch.
