The Random Alphabet for the 1998 General Election
The Random Alphabet is chosen by the California Secretary of State and
is the method for chosing where each candidate will be placed on the ballot
for each particular race. For example, in the U.S. Senate race listing,
Matt Fong will be above Barbara Boxer because "F" for Fong is number 20 and
"B" for Boxer is number 23.
