ILLUSIONS

God and I in space alone
And nobody else in view;
"Where are the people, O Lord?" I asked.
"The earth beneath and the sky overhead,
And the dead whom I once knew?"

"That was a dream," God smiled and said,
"A dream that has ceased to be true.
There were no people, living or dead,
No earth beneath and no sky overhead.
There was only Myself with you."

"Why do I feel no fear?" I said,
"Meeting You here this way?
For I have sinned I know full well;
So is this Heaven or is it Hell?
And is this the Judgment Day?"

"Nay!" the Great God said,
"Those were but dreams that have ceased to be.
There are no such things as fear and sin,
Even you, yourself, have never really been.
Truth is, there is NOTHING AT ALL but ME!
Then I laughed and laughed as Him,
Who is but Me!

I AM THAT I AM

I HAVE AT LAST REACHED MY GOAL
AND SOLVED THE SECRET OF MY SOUL

I AM THAT TO WHOM I PRAYED
THAT TO WHOM I ASKED FOR AID

I AM THAT WHOM I DID SEEK
I AM MY OWN MOUNTAIN PEAK

I UPON CREATION DO LOOK
AS A PAGE FROM MY OWN BOOK

FOR I AM THE ONE THE MANY MAKE
OF SUBSTANCE FROM WHICH ME I TAKE

FOR ALL IS ME, THERE ARE NOT TWO
CREATION IS MYSELF ALL THROUGH

WHAT I WANT I DO BUT SEE
MY WISHES FLOW FORTH FROM ME

FOR I AM THE KNOWER AND THE KNOWN
SUBJECT, RULER AND THE THRONE

SELF-REALIZED, I AM THE HOST
OF FATHER, OF SON AND OF HOLY GHOST

THE THREE-IN-ONE IS WHAT I AM
AND HELL ITSELF IS BUT A DAM

THAT I DID PUT IN MY OWN STREAM
WHEN IN A NIGHTMARE I DID DREAM

THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE
AND THUS TO ME WAS DOUBT BEGUN

WHICH RAN ITS COURSE TILL I AWOKE
AND FOUND THAT I WITH ME DID JOKE
