Best photo ever taken of me thus far - by Stacy Macris
Things you should know:
- She's 1/2 Sri Lankan & 1/2 Valley Girl, but all woman...
- She's been around the world twice and then some...
- She used to work at alternative radio station KROQ in L.A....
- She's an ordained mail-order minister (really!)
- This page was last updated in '99, but the e-mail link still works!
- She moved to Sri Lanka after the group broke up and can now be found expressing herself in writing at www.malaynadawn.com
Malayna Khalid, an L.A. native, (in fact, a real native Valley Girl)
tries to make up for it by doing a lot of traveling.
She's spent time in: London, Paris, Athens, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice, Florence, Rome, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Sri Lanka six times!

She began singing with a professional children's group at the age of 9 that did 3-part harmony for radio and TV commercials, TV shows (like "Young &
the Restless"), Films (like "The Butcher's Wife"- making her only 2 degrees from Kevin
Bacon!) and various albums. They also had the honor of singing with
Frank Sinatra, in the studio!

In high school, she sang with Vannaires vocal jazz group and received the Herb Alpert Music Scholarship from Van Nuys Performing Arts High School. She went on to be a voice major at Cal
State Northridge...until she switched majors to Communication Studies, which
incorporated Radio, TV, Film and Public Speaking. She worked in the music
industry at radio stations like
KROQ, in music publishing and with the trade publication
Radio & Records.
Malayna as a blonde!
Malayna feels truly blessed (and since she's a minister
you know she means it!) to be a part of Primitive Soul, and looks forward to
laughter, adventure and world travel with the group!
