Maynard Ferguson LPs -- 1958 - 1962 (Roulette Era)

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM NEWPORT -- Roulette R-52012

Here's the MONO, original Message from Newport LP. A true MF classic. These are getting harder and harder to find. Tracks include The Fugue, Fan It, Janet, The Waltz, Tag Team, And We Listened, Slide's Derangement, Frame for the Blues, Humbug, Three Little Foxes.
SORRY. NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM NEWPORT -- Roulette SR-52012

Here's the STEREO, original Message from Newport LP. A true MF classic. Same tracks as the MONO version, but two tracks are missing. (They apparently couldn't squeeze them all on the STEREO version, as the grooves are each a bit wider.)
COPY #1. Just in, this one has some significant surface wear visible on the front cover, a completely taped seam at top and bottom, as well as a paritally taped spine. (I personally made these repairs with clear tape, and they're hard to detect.) On the back, there's again some of the typical surface wear, a Braille label, and quite a bit of writing. Due to the many flaws, this cover is just GD, although it looks decent. The vinyl has a tiny raised sticker on the A label (for recognition by the visually impaired). The disc itself has some scuffs and light scratches. It's VG. Overall, this copy is just GD+ to VG- -- a bit below average. However, it plays OK, and it's yours for just $4.00. If you buy anything else from my website, I'll let it go for just $2.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows a little bit of surface wear, front and back, but otherwise, it's clean and nice. And the seams and spine are in nice, original condition. I'd rate this cover as NMINT-. The disc how some definite scuffs and light scratches, and although it plays OK, there's some surface noise in places. It's in the VG+ range. Overall, this one has a super nice cover and slightly above average vinyl. It's EX. Yours for $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM NEWPORT (UK RELEASE) -- Roulette ROU 1004

Here's the UK reissue STEREO release of the Newport LP, pressed in 1989. A true MF classic. All 9 original tracks are here, unlike on the original STEREO Roulette LP which only had 7 tracks.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM NEWPORT -- Roulette SR-59024

This is the 1981 STEREO re-issue of the 1958 LP. Recorded 5/6 - 5/8/58, this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded by the Ferguson orchestra.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is NMINT! It's in super condition. The vinyl has quite a few light surface scratches which don't cause any real problems, but do contribue to a bit of background noise in places. It's EX-. Overall, this copy is EX+. $10.00.
COPY #2. This copy is MINT, FACTORY SEALED!!! It's $20.00.
COPY #3. COVER ONLY. I have a spare cover that's really nice. The only issue is just a tiny hint of wear on the front, but it's almost not worth mentioning. The cover is NMINT. Just $3.00 if you need one.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM NEWPORT (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sounds Re. 17/1

This is the 1980s Spanish STEREO re-issue of the 1958 LP. Recorded 5/6 - 5/8/58, this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded by the Ferguson orchestra.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, ROULETTE PRESENTS A DEMONSTRATION OF THE NEW DIMENSIONAL SOUND OF DYNAMIC STEREO -- Roulette SR-100

Most folks have never heard of this one before! It's a 1958 Roulette compilation LP, in STEREO, of some of their brightest sounding releases from that era. Artists include Count Basie, Machito, Joe Williams, Johnny Richards, and of interest to us, Maynard Ferguson. Maynard is represented by the track "Slide's Derangement" from the Message from Newport LP. The front cover features two giant woofers, one red and one green, to push across the point that this record was designed for boosting the "gain" on your "hi-fi". Really an interesting period piece, and VERY RARE. I've only seen three of these in all my years of collecting.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HERB POMEROY, TRUMPETS OUT FRONT (UK RELEASE) -- Vogue Jazz VJD-567

Here's a double LP from the UK that's extremely rare! Herb Pomeroy and his orchestra play on one disc, and Maynard and his orchestra play on the other. Extremely hard to find, especially in the U.S.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SWINGIN' MY WAY THROUGH COLLEGE -- Roulette R 25058

Here's the great MONO album from 1958 with such tunes as Don'Cha Go 'Way Mad, What's New, Dancing in the Dark, etc. What a fantastic album! This is the one with Maynard standing on the cover next to an old-fashioned school desk. He's holding his trumpet, valve trombone, and euphonium.
COPY #1. Here's the first copy I've had in stock in some time. This one has relatively clean and nice front paper, but the spine is cracked in numerous places, there's a 5" repaired seam split at upper right, and a completely repaired seam at bottom. There's also some yellowish tape residue at bottom right from a prior seam repair, and this can be seen prominently on the back. There's also a bit of surface wear visible on the back. I can only rate this cover as GD-. The vinyl is profusely scratched on both sides, but they are the surface variety of scratches. The passages I listened to had no skips or bad pops, but had definite background noise throughout. It's GD-, AT BEST, but more like POOR to POOR+. I've seen worse, but not by much. This copy is just $1.00 if you purchase anything else from me; otherwise, it's $2.00. A decent first copy for a young collector.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SWINGIN' MY WAY THROUGH COLLEGE -- Roulette SR 25058

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SWINGIN' MY WAY THROUGH COLLEGE (CANADIAN MONO RELEASE) -- Roulette R 25058

And this one is a SUPER RARE Canadian pressing.

And this Spanish version is on superb vinyl, and sounds wonderful! It's extremely hard to find.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, THE MOST OF THE TWIST -- Roulette R 25176

Very few MF collectors know about this LP, although it is mentioned in the MF Mosaic boxed set liner notes as existing. It's a compilation LP from Roulette with various artists playing music to dance the "twist" by. MF is represented with the tune "Hip Twist." Most of these LPs were gobbled up long ago by Rock and Roll collectors. I seldom see a copy, and when I do, they're really priced high! I saw one copy sell for in excess of $100.00! This is the MONO version.
COPY #1. Just in, this copy looks it just came out of the shrink wrap. The cover is NMINT to NMINT+ -- perhaps the best available. The vinyl has clean and nice early Roulette labels (white with the colored bars). Side A is easily NMINT; side B is NMINT-, with just a few light surface scratches that don't significantly affect play. Overall, this copy is in the NMINT range. A super copy, it's $28.00.
COPY #2. Just in, the cover on this one has a 1.5" seam crack at top center, and a 1.5" seam crack at bottom center. Roulette stamped "PROMOTION COPY" on the back cover. Still, this is a relatively clean and nice LP, and rates an EX++. The disc has a few scuffs and very light scratches. It's likewise EX++. Overall, a nice, clean EX++ copy. It's $20.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, THE PHILCO ALBUM OF HOLIDAY MUSIC -- Columbia Special Products CSM 431

Here's a special LP that was privately printed by Columbia Special Products for Philco/Ford dealers to provide to their customers, perhaps as a give-away with a certain dollar amount purchased. It's quite rare. MF is included on the tune O Come, All Ye Faithful.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM BIRDLAND -- Roulette R-52027

Here's the MONO, original Message from Birdland LP. A true MF classic, recorded LIVE at Birdland on 6/17/59. Tracks include Oleo, Starfire, The Mark of Jazz, Night Life, Stella by Starlight, Lonely Time, and Back in the Satellite Again. These are getting harder to find as the years go by.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is nice and clean with totally intact seams and no damage of any kind, other than just very minor surface wear and a little toning on the back. It's definitely a NMINT cover. The vinyl has a little light scuffing, and a couple of light surface scratches, which don't significantly affect play. It's EX. Overall, this copy is EX++. A very, very nice copy. $14.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows some definite surface wear both front and rear. The seams are all intact, but there's a small name written on the back at upper left. This cover is in the EX- to EX range. The vinyl's a bit nicer than the cover -- EX+. Overall, this copy is EX. A nice, solid copy priced at $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows a bit of very light surface wear, but it's definitely not bad. I'd rate this cover as NMINT-. The vinyl is the original white spoke label type, and it's a nice, clean EX+. Overall, this copy is EX++. Yours for $14.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM BIRDLAND -- Roulette SR-52027

Here's the STEREO, original Message from Birdland LP. A true MF classic, recorded LIVE at Birdland on 6/17/59. Tracks include Oleo, Starfire, The Mark of Jazz, Night Life, Stella by Starlight, Lonely Time, and Back in the Satellite Again. These are getting harder all the time to find, and the STEREO version seems MUCH harder to find than the MONO, in my experience.
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one shows a bit of general surface and edge wear. The spine has a bit of the edge paper worn away in a couple of places. There's a small disturbance on the back from the removal of a price sticker, and a spot near the bottom of the back where the paper tore and was glued back down. Still, it looks quite nice, as there are no seam splits, etc. I'd rate it as EX-. The vinyl is the original pressing (white label with colored bars). It's a bit rough, with several noticeable scratches. It plays through OK, but with some definite background noise and a few clicks audible in places. It's just average -- VG. Overall, let's call this one VG+. It's just a squeak above average. Yours for $7.00.
COPY #2. Just in, this one has some surface wear visible on the front cover, a completely taped seam at top (nice job with clear tape), and a masking-taped bottom seam. On the back, there's some of the typical surface wear, a Braille label, and some small writing. Due to the many flaws, this cover is just GD, although it looks quite nice. The vinyl has a small horizontal 1/2" tear on one label. The disc itself has numerous scuffs and light scratches. It's just GD+. Overall, this copy is just GD to GD+ -- definitely below average. Although it plays OK, it's just basically a space filler, and is yours for $3.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is relatively clean and nice, but with several minor flaws. There's a little roughness in the cover paper where a stick was removed (about the size of a dime. The bottom right corner had the beginnings of a seam split corrected to prohibit further splitting. There's a little surface wear, and on the back, someone doodled a little in the bottom right corner. All these small things reduce what looks like a NMINT- cover to just EX-. The disc itself shows some scuffing and a couple of light scratches which don't affect play. It's EX. So, overall, this copy is EX- to EX. Well worth $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM BIRDLAND (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- Nippon Columbia YW-7814-RO

Here's the STEREO, Japanese re-issue of the Message from Birdland LP, pressed in 1977. A true MF classic, recorded LIVE at Birdland on 6/17/59. Tracks include Oleo, Starfire, The Mark of Jazz, Night Life, Stella by Starlight, Lonely Time, and Back in the Satellite Again. This Japanese version is extremely hard to find, and the pressing is of excellent quality. A winner!

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM BIRDLAND (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound Records FSR-558

Tracks include Oleo, Starfire, The Mark of Jazz, Night Life, Stella by Starlight, Lonely Time, and Back in the Satellite Again. This Spanish version is extremely hard to find (although I stumbled onto a source who had several), and the pressing is of excellent quality. A winner!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one is NMINT+ and the vinyl is MINT, never played!!! A super copy, this one is $20.00.
COPY #2. Just in, the cover on this one is NMINT+ and the vinyl is MINT, never played!!! A super copy, this one is $20.00.
COPY #3. Just in, the cover on this one is NMINT+ and the vinyl is MINT, never played!!! A super copy, this one is $20.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, A MESSAGE FROM BIRDLAND (U.K. RELEASE - MONO) -- Columbia 33SX 1210

Here's the MONO, U.K. version of the Message from Birdland LP. A true MF classic, recorded LIVE at Birdland on 6/17/59. Tracks include Oleo, Starfire, The Mark of Jazz, Night Life, Stella by Starlight, Lonely Time, and Back in the Satellite Again. This U.K. version is extremely hard to find here in the U.S.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this LP that I've ever had for sale on the website. The cover on this one is quite nice, but there's a 2" seam split at top center, a 1" seam split at bottom center, and a tiny bit of surface wear visible. Still, it's a VERY nice cover -- glossy and very clean. It's EX++. The vinyl is even nicer -- NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this copy NMINT-. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON PLAYS JAZZ FOR DANCING -- Roulette R 52038

Here's the MONO dance album from 1959 with such tunes as Hey There, Where's Teddy, Secret Love, It Might as Well be Spring, etc. It's a super listenable album! This one has Maynard playing his trumpet in the foreground, and a sort of "out-of-focus" couple dancing in the background.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON PLAYS JAZZ FOR DANCING -- Roulette SR 52038

Here's the STEREO dance album from 1959 with such tunes as Hey There, Where's Teddy, Secret Love, It Might as Well be Spring, etc. It's a super listenable album! This one has Maynard playing his trumpet in the foreground, and a sort of "out-of-focus" couple dancing in the background.
COPY #1. The cover on this one had brittle, yellowed masking tape on both seams and the spine. It just flaked off, leaving a white residue behind. I then had to tape all three sides with clear tape. The result is a cover with white reside all around the edges. There's also some surface wear, front and back, and a bend at upper right. On the back there's a Braille sticker, some writing, and a tear to the backing paper in the bottom left corner. This cover is POOR! The disc has a tiny raised sticker on side A (for recognition by the visually impaired). The vinyl itself has numerous scuffs and light surface scratches. It plays poorly! I'd rate it as POOR to GD-, at best. So this one is just definitely a space filler for a young, beginning collector. It's just $1.00 if you buy anything else from me; otherwise, $2.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is quite nice. The front cover is really clean and nice, with virtually no vibible issues. There's a bit of surface wear visible on the back, and a little roughness on the seams and spine. The upper seam is split 2" at top right. A really nice looking cover with these minor flaws, it's EX+. The labels are clean and nice, and the vinyl itself has a few light scuffs and surface scratches, but it plays great, and is easily an EX copy. Overall, this one is EX to EX+. A solid LP, it's $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON PLAYS JAZZ FOR DANCING -- Forum F 9035

Here's the MONO dance album from 1959 ON THE FORUM LABEL with such tunes as Hey There, Where's Teddy, Secret Love, It Might as Well be Spring, etc. It's a super listenable album! This one has Maynard playing his trumpet in the foreground, and a sort of "out-of-focus" couple dancing in the background.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows just the faintest hint of record ring wear. Also, I had to repair the bottom seam, but did so nearly flawlessly. Overall, it's an EX to EX+ cover, and looks great. The vinyl is pretty nice, as well -- EX- to EX. Overall, let's call this one EX. $9.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has some of the typical record ring and surface wear that's common on this LP. There's a dime-sized spot in the upper right corner that is very slightly discolored due to a sticker that was once present, but it's very, very minor. There's a 1" seam repair at bottom right, but it's hardly detectable. Interestingly, for all the small flaws, this is still a pretty nice cover. I'd rate it as EX-. The vinyl is well used, with quite a few scuffs and light scratches. It's just GOOD (which means NOT so good), but is playable with some background noise. Overall, this copy is in the VG- range ... a bit below average. Priced accordingly at just $2.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows a hint of record ring wear on the front. There's a seam crack at top center. And there's a little toning on the back. It's a solid, EX- to EX cover -- quite nice, as these covers go. The vinyl is seldom played, NMINT+. Overall, this is a EX++ copy. It's $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON PLAYS JAZZ FOR DANCING -- Forum SF 9035

Here's the STEREO dance album from 1959 ON THE FORUM LABEL with such tunes as Hey There, Where's Teddy, Secret Love, It Might as Well be Spring, etc. It's a super listenable album! This one has Maynard playing his trumpet in the foreground, and a sort of "out-of-focus" couple dancing in the background.
COPY #1. Just in, THIS ONE IS AUTOGRAPHED BY MAYNARD IN WHITE MARKER ON THE FRONT, DARK COVER. VERY, VERY NICE. The cover itself does have some issues. There's a bit of surface wear front and back, but the front isn't too bad. The lower seam is split (and I can repair it if you wish), and along the seams and the back there's some definite spots of foxing (brown toning). I'd rate this cover as VG to VG+ ... just a hair better than average. The A side of the vinyl is NMINT-. The B side has some scuffs and light scratches, so I played it and it does have several clicks and some loud pops on two different tracks. Otherwise, the fidelity is actually excellent, but with the clicks and pops, it rates an EX-. I'd rate the vinyl as EX overall. So let's call this one VG+ to EX- overall. With the nice autograph, it's still only $13.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has some record ring wear, but it's fairly moderate. Both seams have been repaired with clear tape (hardly noticeable). There's a little surface wear and a dime-sized square area on the back that's toned from a price sticker removal. Due to all these issues, it's just an average cover -- VG -- although it looks EX from the front. The vinyl shows signs of having been played a number of times, and it has a few scuffs. I'd rate it as EX- to EX. Overall, let's call this copy VG+ to EX-. It's a decent copy, but nothing spectacular. $7.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, LULLABIES OF BIRDLAND -- Forum F-9056

Here's the original MONO recording of various Roulette artists in a compilation album on the Forum label called "Lullabies of Birdland." The artists include Billy Eckstine, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, etc. And, of course, there's Maynard, on the track "Where's Teddy?". Although "rare" is probably too strong a term for this LP, it's definitely a hard one to find.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of the MONO version of this LP that I've ever had on the website. The cover on this one is fairly clean and nice. There's just a little surface wear but it's minimal. There is a 4" seam split at upper right and a little abrasion in the center of the cover. But overall, it's quite nice, so I'm giving it an EX. The vinyl is a seldom-played EX+. Overall, this one is EX to EX+. It's $10.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, LULLABIES OF BIRDLAND -- Forum (S)F-9056

Here's the original STEREO recording of various Roulette artists in a compilation album on the Forum label called "Lullabies of Birdland." The artists include Billy Eckstine, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, etc. And, of course, there's Maynard, on the track "Where's Teddy?". Although "rare" is probably too strong a term for this LP, it's definitely a hard one to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this one looks like it was just removed from the shrink wrap. The only problem is a 1" seam crack at bottom center. Still, it's an ultra clean, NMINT cover! The vinyl is like new, except for a few ultra light surface scuffs. It's at least NMINT-. Overall, this is a super clean, NMINT- to NMINT copy. $16.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has clean and nice front paper, a 4" seam crack at bottom center, and a tiny little bit of brownish toning on the back. I'd rate it as EX+ -- very clean and nice, but with just a few flaws. (I'll be glad to carefully repair that seam crack for you if you wish prior to shipping.) The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. Yours for $13.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, LULLABIES OF BIRDLAND, COMMAND PERFORMANCE -- Forum FCS-9082

Here's the original STEREO recording of various Roulette artists in a compilation album on the Forum label called "Lullabies of Birdland." It has a different cover and catalog number than the one above, although it also has MF on the track "Where's Teddy?". Although "rare" is probably too strong a term for this LP, it's definitely a hard one to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is clean and nice, but does have some flaws: the names "Ruth & Doris" written in small letters at upper right, a pea sized scrape at upper right, and a little light wear front and back. It's EX to EX+. The vinyl has a few light surface scratches that don't significantly affect play, and it's clean and shiny. I'd rate it as EX+. Overall, this copy is EX+. Yours for $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEWPORT SUITE -- Roulette R 52047

Here's the MONO version of this GREAT MF recording. Tracks include The Jazz Bary, Foxy, Newport, Got the Spirit, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Ol' Man Fiver, and Three More Foxes. Some of the finest material every recorded by MF!
COPY #1. The cover on this one has a 3" seam crack at bottom center, as well as a little surface wear and toning on both the front and back. There's also a tiny (1/4") ink line on the front of the cover near the left edge. Looks like someone accidentally brushed it with a pen. It's very small, but I felt I should mention it. The cover rates an EX- to EX. The vinyl has a few very fine surface scratches which cause a bit of noise on playback, but it's not bad. I'd rate it as EX. Overall, this copy is in the EX- to EX range. A nice, solid, above average copy. $10.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one looks quite nice, but there's a little light surface wear visible on the front, and a little heavier surface wear on the back. I had to repair the top seam and the middle of the bottom seam. The repairs look quite nice, and are hard to detect, but they're definitely there. On the back there's just a slight discoloration in one spot where a price sticker was removed. Although it's a very nice looking cover, it only rates an EX- -- just a bit above average. The vinyl is quite nice. It's not been played that much, and just has a couple of very light scuffs and very light surface scratches. It's EX++. Overall, this copy is EX to EX+ -- a nice, solid copy. Yours for $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has just a bit of surface wear visible, front and back, but it's still a very nice copy. EX++ to NMINT-. The vinyl is also really nice with only a couple of light surface scuffs visible. It's NMINT-. Overall this one is EX++ to NMINT-. A solid copy. $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEWPORT SUITE -- Roulette SR 52047

Here's the STEREO version of this GREAT MF recording. Tracks include The Jazz Bary, Foxy, Newport, Got the Spirit, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Ol' Man Fiver, and Three More Foxes. Some of the finest material every recorded by MF!

MAYNARD FERGUSON, NEWPORT SUITE (UK PRESSING) -- Saga Eros 8133

Here's the STEREO version of this GREAT MF recording, imported from the UK, with a unique picture cover -- totally and completely different than the U.S. cover. It's a bit hard to find in the UK, and almost impossible to find here in the U.S. Like its U.S. counterpart, tracks include Jazz Barries, Foxy, Newport, Got the Spirit, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Ol' Man Fiver, and Three More Foxes. Some of the finest material every recorded by MF!
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this relatively rare LP I've had for awhile. The cover has a little of the typical laminate "looseness" at the left edge, but this is true of almost every one of these covers. There are a couple of minor bends in the cover, as well, but overall, it's quite nice -- a solid EX to EX+. The vinyl has a few very light surface scratches that don't significantly affect play. It's EX to EX+, as well. Overall, this is a nice, solid EX to EX+ copy. Yours for $18.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is quite clean and nice, with just the slightest bit of surface wear, a little roughness (minor) along the opening slit, and two tiny pen marks (one red, one green) on the back. It's in the EX+ to NMINT- range. The vinyl has some light surface scratches. I could hear a little background noise on the out grooves and in the softer passages. It's EX- to EX. Overall, let's call this one EX to EX+. Yours for $18.00.
COPY #3. This one has a relatively clean and nice cover, with the only problem being a spot on the back at upper right where's it's obvious a sticker was removed. It's EX+. The vinyl has a couple of very light scuffs, but they don't affect play. It's NMINT-. Overall, a nice, solid EX++ copy, it's yours for $22.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one shows a hint of record ring wear, but it's not bad. You can only really see it in oblique lighting. I'd rate this cover as NMINT-. The labels are clean and nice. The vinyl has a few scuffs and some light scratches that don't significantly affect play. There's a bit of surface noise audible in the softer passages. I still feel the disc is easily EX. Overall, let's call this one EX+. It's yours for $20.00.
COPY #5. COVER ONLY. I have a spare cover to offer. These covers are very thin and subject to creasing. This one does have 2 or 3 light creases and some surface wear, primarily visible on the back. Overall, it's a good looking cover and rates an EX. Just $4.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. I -- Roulette R 52050

Here's the MONO version of this Roulette compilation LP from about 1960. It includes MF on the track Frame for the Blues. These are hard to find!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has nicely repaired seam splits at upper and lower right. There's a bit of surface wear, front and back. I'd rate this cover as EX- to EX. The vinyl shows heavy scuffing and light scratching. It will play OK, but with definite background noise in spots. It's just VG-. Overall, this copy is in the VG to VG+ range. Yours for just $4.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. I -- Roulette SR 52050

Here's the STEREO version of this Roulette compilation LP from about 1960. It includes MF on the track Frame for the Blues. These are hard to find!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has a 2" seam split at lower right and a 4" seam split at upper right. (I'll nicely repair the seams for you if you like.) Too bad, because otherwise it rates a NMINT to NMINT+ -- it's super clean and nice. Due to the splits, I'll rate it as just EX+. The vinyl is very nice -- EX+, as well. Overall, this is a nice, clean EX+ copy. $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy has the slightest hint of a bend visible on the front, bottom left, and also on the rear, upper right. Otherwise, it's like new -- ultra clean and nice. Let's rate it as NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT-, as well. Overall, this is a super clean, NMINT- copy. $10.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. I -- Forum F 9064

Here's the FORUM MONO version of this Roulette compilation LP from about 1960. It includes MF on the track Frame for the Blues. These are very hard to find, especially on the FORUM label vs. the Roulette label!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has had a great repair job done to the spine at bottom center and upper left. Both repairs are hardly detectable. There's one scraped place at upper right. Overall, this cover still rates an EX -- it's quite nice. The vinyl is EX-, and does display one small scrape on one side of the label. Overall, this copy is EX- to EX. Just $5.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. I -- Forum SF 9064

Here's the FORUM STEREO version of this Roulette compilation LP from about 1960. It includes MF on the track Frame for the Blues. These are very hard to find, especially on the FORUM label vs. the Roulette label!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is ultra clean and nice -- like new -- but it does have two flaws: a bend in the bottom left-hand corner, and a nicely repaired seam split at bottom center (hardly detectable). Although it looks NMINT+, due to these two flaws, it's only EX+. The vinyl is NMINT! Overall, this copy is NMINT-. $10.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. II -- Roulette SR-52053

Here's the original STEREO Roulette compilation LP which includes MF on the track "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child." Other artists include Count Basie, Billy Eckstine, Bill Russo, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and Cora Lee Day. These "The Most" compilation LPs are getting quite hard to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is really nice, in NMINT condition. About the only detracting factor is an original White Front store price sticker on the back. It cost $1.98 at White Front when it first came out!!! The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. $12.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a 1" seam crack at bottom center, but otherwise, it's really clean and nice. It's still NMINT. The vinyl is seldom, if ever, play, but there are some sleeve scuffs present. It's EX++. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. It's $10.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. II -- Forum SF 9067

Here's the Forum STEREO version of this Roulette compilation LP which includes MF on the track "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child." Other artists include Count Basie, Billy Eckstine, Bill Russo, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and Cora Lee Day. These "The Most" compilation LPs are getting very, very hard to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is really nice, in NMINT condition. The vinyl has a few extremely light scuffs and a surface scratches, but is still NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. $12.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" COMMAND PERFORMANCE -- Forum Circle FCS-9079

Here's the Forum Circle STEREO compilation compilation LP which includes MF on the track "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child." Other artists include Count Basie, Billy Eckstine, Bill Russo, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and Cora Lee Day. This particular "The Most" compilation LP is exceedingly rare!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has had the bottom seam carefully repaired at lower right. Otherwise, it's a clean and nice cover, with just a tiny bit of toning visible, mainly on the back. I'd rate the cover as EX. The vinyl is likewise a solid EX. This one is yours for $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE -- Roulette R-52055

Here's the original MONO recording of Maynard's great dance album, including the tracks Let's Face the Music and Dance, Teach Me Tonight, Mango's, The Party's Over, It Could Happen to You, You Don't Know What Love Is, etc. Really a great, highly listenable LP. Everyone needs a copy!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one has some definite surface wear. There's also a little seam wear, and I had to repair a 6" seam split at bottom right. There's also some yellowing at bottom right where old-fashioned Scotch tape (now missing) was used to repair it years ago. Thus, although it looks pretty decent, this cover is a bit below average -- maybe GD to GD+. The vinyl has a lot of surface scratches. It plays with definite background noise throughout. I'd rate it as just GD- to GD. Overall, this is a definitely below average copy, in just GD condition. Yours for just $2.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has clear tape on both the top and bottom seams. (I personally made these repairs, and they're hard to detect.) The front paper is quite clean and nice, and on the back there's a brown mark at the left edge (about a half inch square). There's also a Braille sticker and some small writing on the back. I'd rate this cover as VG-, just below average, although it looks super from the front! The vinyl has a tiny raised sticker on the A label (for recognition by the visually impaired). The disc itself has some scuffs and light scratches, and one short scratch that's a bit deeper. That one's gonna cause some clicking. So let's call the vinyl GD+ to VG-. Overall, this copy is GD+ to VG-, although you'd never know it by looking at the nice front cover. Priced to sell at just $3.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE -- Roulette SR-52055

Here's the original STEREO recording of Maynard's great dance album, including the tracks Let's Face the Music and Dance, Teach Me Tonight, Mango's, The Party's Over, It Could Happen to You, You Don't Know What Love Is, etc. Really a great, highly listenable LP. Everyone needs a copy!
COPY #1. This is the first STEREO copy of this LP I've had in stock in some time. The cover on this one is quite nice. The only issues I see with it are a tiny abrasion (about the size of two grains of rice) at upper right where, presumably, a price take once resided, and there's a bit of surface wear visible, mainly on the back. I'd rate this cover as EX+. The vinyl is relatively clean and nice, as well, with just a few light scuffs and surface scratches visible, mainly on the B side. It's plays quite nicely, with just a little surface noise, mainly in the softer passages. It's EX. Overall, this copy is EX to EX+. It's $13.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOL. IV -- Roulette R-52062

This is the MONO version of this hard-to-find Roulette compilation LP from about 1961. It includes the track "Got the Spirit" by MF. Finding a complete set of these "The Most" compilation albums is a real challenge.
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this copy is pretty nice, but it does have a little surface wear visible both front and back. There's a little bit of wear on the seams in a couple of places, as well. Still, it's a nice, solid, EX to EX+ copy. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, this is a very nice copy, in EX+ condition. $10.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a 2" seam split at upper right, and a little bit of spine, seam, and surface wear, overall. On the back, there's a small, rubber-stamped name. There's also a small water stain visible on the tip of one bottom corner. So there are several minor issues with this cover which make it just VG+ to EX-, although it actually looks nicer. The vinyl has quite a few light surface scratches. It's VG. Overall, this one is VG+. It's just $4.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD ’61 – Roulette R 52064

This is the MONO release of this outstanding album, with the tunes The Pharaoh, New Blue, Ole, Blues for Kapp, Goodbye, and Ultimate Rejection. This was the height of the Ferguson era, folks!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy shows a little bit of surface wear on the front, has a 1" seam crack at bottom center, and on the back has a quarter-sized blemish in the bottom right-hand corner from price sticker removal, and a former owner's name written in black marker. From the front, it's still quite nice looking, but due to the problems, only rates a VG+. The vinyl is really quite nice -- EX+. Overall, this one is EX- to EX. $7.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one IS AUTOGRAPHED BY MAYNARD ON THE FRONT IN BLACK MARKER. Unfortunately, the cover has significant wear, front and back, and there are small cracks or splits on both seams and the spine. I'd rate this cover as just VG- to VG, at best. The vinyl is nicer -- it's EX. Overall, this one is maybe VG+. With the nice autograph, it's still only $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD ’61 – Roulette SR 52064

This is the STEREO release of this outstanding album, with the tunes The Pharaoh, New Blue, Ole, Blues for Kapp, Goodbye, and Ultimate Rejection. This was the height of the Ferguson era, folks!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD – Emus ES-12024

This album looks just like Maynard '61, and has the same tracks -- The Pharaoh, New Blue, Ole, Coldwater Canyon Blues, Goodbye, and Ultimate Rejection -- but it was released on the Emus label, NOT Roulette, and is entitled "MAYNARD," not "MAYNARD '61." It's in STEREO.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has just the slightest bit of surface wear, a couple of rough spots on the spine, and a rubber-stamped "PROPERTY OF JAZZ MEDIA INTERNATIONAL" on the back. It's an EX to EX+ cover. The vinyl is really clean and shiny. NMINT, except the same rubber stamp has been applied to one side of the label. Let's call it NMINT- due to this slightly detracting factor. Overall, this album is EX++. $10.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is nice and clean, with the only problem being a bit of wear on the bottom right corner. It's still NMINT. The vinyl is likewise clean and nice -- NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT -- $14.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is NMINT, but in a strong light, you can see a rectangular depression where something was apparently traced on a sheet of paper that was sitting on top of the cover. It's barely noticeable, but let's reduce the grade of this cover to just NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT-, but does have a name stamped on each side, a tiny scrape on one side, "#716" written in small letters, and a small piece of Scotch tape adhering to the label. Let's call the vinyl just EX as a result of these label problems. Overall, this copy is EX+. $8.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy is a super clean and nice NMINT+. It looks like it was just removed from shrink wrap. The vinyl has maybe been played once, although there's a paper scuff that does not affect play. It's NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT to NMINT+. Yours for $15.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one is super clean and nice. It looks like it was just removed from the shrink wrap. The only problem is a very minor corner bend at lower right. I'm still going to call this one NMINT -- it's THAT NICE! The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. This splendid copy is yours for $17.00.
COPY #6. The cover on this copy is relatively clean and nice. There's a tiny bend at upper left, and the upper seam has some cracking at center and at upper right. There's one word written on the back. I'd rate this cover as EX, although it looks even nicer from the front. The vinyl is a seldom, if ever, played NMINT+!!! Just super. So, overall, this one is in the NMINT- range. It's yours for $11.00.
COPY #7. The cover on this one has a bit of record ring wear, a small rectangular sticker stain in the upper right corner, and a skinned tip at upper right. There are a couple of small nicks on the seams, and a tiny mark from a felt-tipped pen on the reverse. It's an EX- to EX cover. The vinyl is a relatively clean EX+. Overall, let's call this one EX. It's $7.00.
COPY #8. Just in, the cover on this one is almost like new! It's NMINT+. The vinyl is NMINT to NMINT+, really clean and nice. Overall, let's call this copy NMINT+. I doubt you can find a nicer one. It's $17.00.

"TWO'S COMPANY" WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON AND CHRIS CONNOR -- Roulette R 52068

This is the MONO version of this great album, recorded for Maynard's Roulette record label. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is super -- NMINT! The vinyl is NMINT-. A great copy, in NMINT- to NMINT condition overall, $14.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has "DJ COPY NOT FOR SALE" stamped on the back of the cover. But it's still a clean and nice cover, in NMINT condition. The vinyl is a clean and shiny NMINT, as well. Overall, this is a super, NMINT copy. $15.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy is really clean and nice, with the only problems being a 2" seam crack at bottom center, and a tiny bit of ring wear visible on the back. It's still a NMINT- cover. The vinyl has a couple of very light scuffs and surface scratches, which don't significantly affect play. It's EX+. Overall, this copy is EX++. $10.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has near pefect front paper. The back is equally as nice except for some tiny brownish "foxing" spots in places. Still, the cover is easily NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this nice copy NMINT-. It's yours for $12.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one has just a hint of record ring wear visible, front and back. It's really minor. I'd still rate the cover NMINT. Although it does have one light surface scuff, the vinyl is a seldom-played NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT. And ... it's got a beautiful Maynard Ferguson autograph on the front (I know the collector ... it's guaranteed genuine!). Overall, a very nice autographed NMINT copy. It's $20.00.

"TWO'S COMPANY" WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON AND CHRIS CONNOR -- Roulette SR 52068

This is the STEREO version of this great album, recorded for Maynard's Roulette record label. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is very clean and nice, with just a faint hint of surface wear. The top and bottom seams had some splitting, so I carefully repaired them. The repair is hardly noticeable. With the repairs, I'd rate this nice, clean cover as EX+. The vinyl has quite a few very light, parallel surface scratches. They do cause a little background noise on playback. I'd rate it as EX-. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. It's a solid, above average copy of this desirable LP. Just $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy shows just a bit of wear and slight toning on the front. There's a little wear on the seams, as well. On the back, there's a slight disturbance to the backing paper at the right edge and some small writing. I'd rate this cover as VG+ to EX- -- a bit better than average. There's a tiny raised sticker on the A label (for recognition by the visually impaired). The vinyl has a few scuffs and light scratches, but they're not too bad. I'd rate it as EX- to EX. Overall, this copy is EX-. It's yours for $6.00.

"TWO'S COMPANY" WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON AND CHRIS CONNOR (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound R-52068 (RLP-215)

This is the 1980s Spanish re-issue version of this great album, originally recorded for Maynard's Roulette record label. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is NMINT+. The vinyl is likewise NMINT+. It's a really, really nice copy, in almost like-new condition. $20.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a tiny disturbance to the cover paper at upper left where a price sticker was removed. It's very minor. Someone wrote "17" on the back cover in tiny red letters. I'd rate this cover as EX+ -- clean and nice, but with a couple of small flaws. The vinyl has a couple of very light scuffs which don't affect play. It's NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX++. Yours for $14.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has just a very faint touch of record ring wear. It's minimal. The cover is still NMINT. The vinyl is an ultra clean and nice NMINT+. Overall, this copy is NMINT to NMINT+. Yours for $18.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one is an ultra clean and nice NMINT+. The vinyl is an ultra clean NMINT+, and is probably never-played. This super, NMINT+ copy is $20.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one is an ultra clean and nice NMINT+. The vinyl is an ultra clean NMINT+, and looks to have been played just once on one side only. This super, NMINT+ copy is $20.00.
COPY #6. The cover on this one is an ultra clean and nice NMINT+. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, never-played. This super, NMINT++ copy is $22.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, A JAZZ SALUTE TO FREEDOM -- CORE 100

Back in the 1960s, the Congress of Racial Equality issued this double gatefold LP as a fund-raiser. Many of the jazz musicians of the day were glad to donate a cut to the effort. Maynard and Chris Connor are represented by the track "I Feel a Song Coming On." It's a relatively rare LP today, and normally sells in the $40.00 range for a NMINT copy.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has a 5" seam split at top center and a little light wear in places. There are minor bends in two corners. I'd rate it as EX. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this copy is EX++. Yours for $15.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is a bit rough. It's got definite surface wear, front and back, a slight bend in the upper left corner, and some roughness on the seams and spine. It's somewhere in the VG+ to EX- range. The vinyl is a bit nicer -- EX to EX+. Overall, this one is in the EX- to EX range. It's just $9.00.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE -- Atlantic 8049

This is the MONO version of this great album, recorded for Chris' Atlantic label. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF.
COPY #1. The cover on this one looks pretty nice from the front, with just a bit of surface wear present. The back is a bit wrinkled -- apparently from some moisture at one time or another, and there is a brown stain, about 1/4" high, about 2" long along the bottom edge on the back. Although a nice looking cover, let's just call it average -- VG. The vinyl has some light surface scratches which don't affect play, and a few light scuffs. It's EX-. Overall, this copy is VG+. Due to the cover damage, just $4.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows just a little bit of surface wear. It's NMINT-. The vinyl is pretty rough, with a number of light surface scratches that don't cause a skip, but do cause some background noise. So it's just VG. overall, this copy is EX-. $5.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is in super condition, with just a little toning to the back of the cover. It's still NMINT. The vinyl is clean and nice, with just one long suface scratch on one side that doesn't affect play. It's EX+. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. $13.00.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE -- Atlantic SD 8049

This is the STEREO version of this great album, recorded for Chris' Atlantic label. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF.
COPY #1. The cover on this one looks pretty nice from the front, with just a bit of surface wear present. The seams and spine are all nice and tight. On the back, there's a Braille label and some small writing near the right edge, as well as a bit of surface wear. I'd rate this cover as EX. There's a tiny raised sticker on the A label (for recognition by the visually impaired). The disc itself has numerous scuffs and light scratches. I'd rate it as GD- to GD, at best. Too bad. That places the overall copy somewhere in the VG range - only average. Priced accordingly at just $3.00.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE -- Atlantic Jazzlore 90143-1

This is the STEREO re-issue version of this great album, recorded for Chris' Atlantic label, and dating to 1984. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF. The cover is completely different from the earlier 1961 release. This re-issue version, in my experience, is two or three times rarer than the original.
COPY #1. Just in, here's a super nice copy of this relatively rare LP. The cover looks almost like new. It's NMINT to NMINT+. The vinyl looks almost new, and may be never-played. It's NMINT+ to NMINT++. Overall, this copy is NMINT+. Yours for $18.00.
COPY #2. This one is FACTORY SEALED, but some of the shrink wrap is missing at upper right and there's a small saw cut at upper left -- a cut-out item. Other than the saw cut, the cover appears to be in perfect condition. The vinyl is, of course, MINT. Just $8.00 for this copy.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE (JAPANESE RELEASE) -- Atlantic/Warner Pioneer P-7728

This is the JAPANESE STEREO re-issue version of this great album, recorded for Chris' Atlantic label, and dating to 1984. It's a great vocal album featuring Chris Connor, with Maynard's band playing superb accompaniment, and a number of great solo opportunities for MF. And this Japanese pressing, on pure virgin vinyl, is sensational!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE (U.K. RELEASE - MONO) -- Atlantic/London LTZ-K 15229

This is the original UK MONO version of this great LP. They're very, very hard to find here in the U.S.! It's similar to the U.S. version of this cover, but with some definite difference in cover format.
COPY #1. The cover has some record ring wear visible, mainly on the back. There's 1/4" closed tear in the opening slit area at right. And the back, there's a little roughness in places. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl, however, is an ultra clean NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this one EX+. It's $15.00.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOUBLE EXPOSURE (U.K. RELEASE - STEREO) -- Atlantic/London SAH-K 6190

This is the original UK STEREO version of this great LP. They're very, very hard to find here in the U.S.! It's similar to the U.S. version of this cover, but with some definite difference in cover format.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows just the slightest wear, but it's still easily NMINT. The vinyl looks like it's only been played a very few times. It's likewise NMINT. Overall, this is a beautiful NMINT copy. It's $22.00.

CHRIS CONNOR AND MAYNARD FERGUSON, A COLLECTION OF MAYNARD FERGUSON AND CHRIS CONNER -- Phanorama PR 5642

This is an incredibly rare 1983 LP which has tunes just by MF, and others with both MF and Chris Connor. Note that Connor's name is misspelled as "Conner" both in the title and in the credits. It was pressed in Nashville, Tennessee, and I've only seen a handful of them. I'm guessing it was pressed in very small quantity, which is probably a good thing, given the typographical error.
COPY #1. This copy is, unbelievably, MINT, FACTORY SEALED. It's $30.00.
COPY #2. This copy is, unbelievably, MINT, FACTORY SEALED. It's $30.00.
COPY #3. This copy is, unbelievably, MINT, FACTORY SEALED. It's $30.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, "THE MOST" VOLUME V -- Roulette SR 52075

This is the stereo version of this Roulette compilation album featuring various Roulette artists, including MF on Coldwater Canyon Blues. The five "The Most" compilations are some of the hardest Roulette albums to find, principally because they must have been produced in small quantities. I'm still trying to complete my set, as are most MF collectors.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, "STRAIGHTAWAY" JAZZ THEMES -- Roulette R 52076

This is the MONO version of this fantastic Roulette LP. I've got to tell you, this is one of my personal favorites. And compared to most MF LPs, this one is very hard-to-get. I think a lot of the problem may be the "race car" on the cover -- actually, a vintage '60s Jaguar XKE. This makes it particularly collectible. I've seen copies selling on the Internet lately in the $35.00 to $45.00 range.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is very nice, with just a little record ring wear visible front and back, as well as the original owner's name rubber-stamped neatly on the back. It still rates an EX+. The vinyl has the original owner's name rubber stamped twice on one side of the label, but it's still EX+, as well. Overall, it's a nice, solid EX+ copy. $14.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has some light surface wear, two small nicks on the bottom seam, and the number "12" written on the back, in tiny purple letters, in the bottom right-hand corner. I'd rate it EX -- a nice solid cover, but with a few small flaws. The vinyl is nice and shiny with just a few very light surface scratches that don't significantly affect play. It's EX, as well. So overall, this is a nice, solid, well-above-average EX copy. $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has some significant surface wear, front and back. Also, someone once used tacks in the upper corners to fasten it to a wall or bulletin board, leaving two tiny pinholes. There's also some slight toning on the edges, and the paper is missing from most of the seam at bottom. (Must have been slid in and out of a shelf a lot.) So this cover has some definite issues, and only rates a VG-. The vinyl, surprisingly, shows very little sign of any wear whatsoever. It's conservatively NMINT-! AND ... THIS ONE IS NICELY AUTOGRAPHED ON THE FRONT COVER IN BLACK MARKER BY MAYNARD!!! Overall, it's an EX- copy, but with a very nice autograph. Yours for $15.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one shows some surface wear, mainly on the front, but it's not too bad. On the back, there are some gold ink drops, probably drips from a model project. The date 11-18-61 is written in ink at upper right. Due to these flaws, the cover, which looks quite nice from the front, is just average -- VG. The vinyl, on the other hand, is much nicer. I'd rate it as NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX-. It's solid, but not perfect. It's just $8.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one shows just the tiniest amount of surface wear, but it's very, very minimal. Overall, the cover looks great, and I'm going to call it NMINT-. The vinyl is likewise very nice, and I'm going to call it EX++ to NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX++ to NMINT-. It's $17.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, "STRAIGHTAWAY" JAZZ THEMES -- Roulette SR 52076

This is the STEREO version of this fantastic Roulette LP.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, "STRAIGHTAWAY" JAZZ THEMES (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound Records FS-656

This is the STEREO version of this fantastic Roulette LP, and it's a Spanish re-issue pressing. I've got to tell you, this is one of my personal favorites. And compared to most MF LPs, this one is very hard-to-get. I think a lot of the problem may be the "race car" on the cover -- actually, a vintage '60s Jaguar XKE. This makes it particularly collectible. I've seen copies selling on the Internet lately in the $35.00 to $45.00 range for a U.S. version. These Spanish copies are much rarer and have super vinyl.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is clean and nice, and rates a NMINT. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED. A very nice copy, this one is $28.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD '62 -- Roulette R 52083

This is the MONO version of this classic Roulette LP. Tracks include Maria, Lazy Afternoon, Go East Young Man, "X" Stream, etc. It's a must!!!
COPY #1. The cover on this one is clean and nice, with the only problem being a little rubbed spot in the bottom left-hand and top left-hand corners. Still, it's easily NMINT-, tending to NMINT. The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT. Overall, let's call this one NMINT. Yours for $20.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is clean and nice, but there's some light foxing on the back and one small water stain. I'd rate this one as EX+. The vinyl has just a handful of very light surface scratches that don't significantly affect play. It's NMINT-. Overall, this one is EX+ to NMINT-. A nice, solid copy. Yours for $16.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is a solid NMINT-. The vinyl is likewise NMINT-. Overall, this is a nice, solid, NMINT- copy. It's $16.00.
COPY #4. This one shows a bit of surface and record ring wear, front and back, and a few darkish spots on the back. I'd rate this cover as EX. The vinyl has a scuff, and rates an EX++. Overall, let's call this one EX+. It's $14.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this copy is quite nice with the only issues being a very small amount of surface wear and two rubbed corners. It's easily EX+. The vinyl has a few light surface scuffs but it plays great. It's EX+ to NMINT-. Let's call this one EX++ overall … a very solid copy. It's $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD '62 -- Roulette SR 52083

This is the STEREO version of this classic Roulette LP. Tracks include Maria, Lazy Afternoon, Go East Young Man, "X" Stream, etc. It's a must!!!
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this great STEREO LP I've had in stock in a very long time. The cover on this one has a little bit of surface wear, but it's truly minimal. There's a very small, square-shaped, slight discoloration on the back where a price sticker once resided, but it was carefully removed and the paper is intact. Overall, this is a really nice looking cover, with no seam or spine splits, so it's easily NMINT-. The vinyl was just mated with this cover and it's MINT, NEVER PLAYED, just removed from another factory sealed cover (which I used to upgrade the cover in my collection). So a very nice cover here, with MINT vinyl, it's NMINT overall. Hard to find in STEREO, this one is $22.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is very nice. It's got a little ring wear visible on the front, and a small spot on the back that's a bit discolored from a price tag removal. Still, it's a nice cover, and I'd rate it as NMINT-. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD '62 (SPANISH RELEASE) -- Fresh Sound FSR-655

This is the SPANISH STEREO version of this classic Roulette LP. Tracks include Maria, Lazy Afternoon, Go East Young Man, "X" Stream, etc. This Spanish pressing is outstanding!!!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one has just the very beginnings of a seam crack, top seam, dead center. It's trivial, and the cover is still NMINT. The vinyl is a seldom, if ever, played NMINT++. Overall, this one is NMINT to NMINT+. It's $22.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has a 1/2" seam crack at top center, but is otherwise pristine. It's NMINT+. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED! Overall, this one is NMINT+. It's $22.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one has a 1/2" seam crack at top center, but is otherwise pristine. It's NMINT+. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED! Overall, this one is NMINT+. It's $22.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has a 1/2" seam crack at top center, but is otherwise pristine. It's NMINT+. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED! Overall, this one is NMINT+. It's $22.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one has a 1/2" seam crack at top center, but is otherwise pristine. It's NMINT+. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED! Overall, this one is NMINT+. It's $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SI! SI!-M.F. -- Roulette R 52084

This is the MONO version of this outstanding 1962 album.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is really nice, with just a little wear showing a couple of places on the front, and a rubber-stamped inscription “AUDITION RECORD” on the back. The cover is EX. The vinyl is also EX. Overall, a nice sound copy, EX, $10.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is really clean and nice, with the only real problems being a quarter-size discoloration on the back of the cover from the removal of a dealer's price sticker, and a tiny 4" scratch on the front which is almost imperceptible, but worth mentioning. Still, it's so clean and nice that I'd have to rate it between EX++ and NMINT-. The vinyl is clean and sharp looking -- NMINT-. Conservatively, this record is EX++ overall. $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows a bit of surface wear, front and back, and there's a slight crease visible on the front cover, which is the way it came from the factory. Still, it's a EX+ cover -- very nice looking. The vinyl is EX+, as well. Overall, it's a clean and nice copy, in EX+ condition. $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SI! SI!-M.F. -- Roulette SR 52084

This is the STEREO version of this outstanding 1962 album.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is clean and nice with just a hint of record ring wear and a small crease in the front paper at right. I'm sure it came from the factory that way. The back is clean and nice. It's an EX+ cover. The vinyl has possibly never been played, although I do see a couple over extremely light surface scuffs on the B side. Still, it's easily NMINT. Overall, this one is NMINT-. $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SI! SI!-M.F. (CANADIAN PRESSSING - MONO) -- Roulette R 52084

This is the Canadian MONO version of this outstanding 1962 album. It has maroon and silver labels, totally different than the U.S. labels. It is also FAR MORE RARE than the U.S. version!
COPY #1. Just in, this is only the second Canadian copy I've ever seen. The cover on this copy is a bit rough, with surface wear visible front and back. The seams are rough andrepaired. There's a small scribble on the front, upper left, in blue ink. I'd rate the cover as VG, at best. The vinyl is much better -- EX. I'm listening to it right now, and it sounds quite good, with just a little hiss and crackle in places. Still, a strong EX. Due to the cover problems, this one is yours for just $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SI! SI!-M.F. (U.K. PRESSSING - MONO) -- COLUMBIA 33SX 1503

This is the U.K. MONO version of this outstanding 1962 album. It has blue, white, and black labels, totally different than the U.S. labels. It is also FAR MORE RARE than the U.S. version!
COPY #1. Just in, this is first U.K. copy I've ever posted to the website. The cover on this copy is clean and nice, with the only issues being a minor bend at lower right, and a dime-sized scrape on the back. Still, it's an EX++ cover. The vinyl has a few light surface scratches, but nothing that affects play. It's NMINT-. Overall, a really nice EX++ to NMINT- copy. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD '63 -- Roulette R 52090

This is the MONO version of this outstanding 1963 album. Tracks include Sin Blues, Fox Hunt, Knarf, etc. Truly a classic, and very hard to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this one shows just a bit of surface wear on the front and back, and has nice, solid seams. There's a tiny stain on the back at bottom left -- perhaps from a bit of moisture. It's minimal. I'd rate this cover as EX+. The vinyl has quite a few ultra light surface scratches. I could hear a bit of background noise in some of the lighter passages. It's EX-. Overall, this is a solid copy, in EX condition. $12.00.
COPY #2. Just in, the cover on this copy shows a little bit of wear, mainly on the front. Still, it's a NMINT- cover. The vinyl is a seldom-played NMINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. It's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD '63 -- Roulette SR 52090

This is the STEREO version of this outstanding 1963 album. Tracks include Sin Blues, Fox Hunt, Knarf, etc. Truly a classic, and very hard to find -- even more so than the MONO version.
COPY #1. Here's the first STEREO copy of this LP I've had in some time. The top seam on this copy was split, and someone taped it with clear tape. There's some surface wear visible front and back. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl has some light, parallel surface scratches, and it rates an EX. Overall, this copy is EX- to EX. It's $7.00.
COPY #2. Just in, the cover on this one has quite a bit of the typical record ring wear, visible mainly on the front cover. The upper and lower seams also show some wear. I'd rate this cover as a decent EX- to EX. The vinyl has 3 very light surface scratches that I can see. I'd call it EX to EX+. Overall, this is an EX copy. Yours for $9.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MESSAGE FROM MAYNARD -- Roulette R-52101

Message from Maynard is defintely my favorite Roulette album. This is the MONO version. The tunes on this LP are absolutely outstanding, from barn-burner, up tempo tracks, to deep, rich ballads, it's one of the greatest albums ever released by MF -- no question about it! If you don't have a copy, treat yourself to one!!! Maynard absolutely wails!!!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one looks great, but there's a spindle hole at lower right (a cut-out item), a 1" seam split at lower right, a 2" seam crack at bottom center, and a 1" rubbed seam at upper right. I'd rate it as EX-, although it honestly looks NMINT. The vinyl has a few light scuffs and a couple of light surface scratches on one side. It's EX+. Overall, this is a nice, solid copy, in EX condition. Yours for $9.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has clean and nice front paper, with the only problem being a little bit of abrasion to the paper at upper left. I had to carefully repair both the top and bottom seams due to splitting, but the repairs are hard to detect. Unfortunately, someone wrote the timings for side 1 and side 2 on the back cover (15:40 for side 1, and 14:56 for side 2). Due to the flaws, this cover, which looks really nice, is just EX-. The vinyl is ultra clean and nice, but it was in a plastic sleeve at one time or another and it left some surface marks on the vinyl. However, there are no scuffs or scratches, and it plays beautifully. It's NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this one EX to EX+. It's really a nice, solid copy, even with the minor flaws. It's yours for $9.00.
COPY #3. The front paper on this one is relatively clean and nice, except for a bit of surface wear. The backing paper, however, is stained due to some water damage, and is brownish tinted all over. There's a 1" seam split at bottom right. The best I could rate this one is GOOD TO GOOD+. The vinyl has some fine, parallel surface scratches on both sides. This produces some definite background noise on playback. I'd rate it as VG to VG+. Overall, this copy is maybe VG-. Just $2.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has a bit of the typical record ring wear visible on the front, but it's not too bad. On the back there's a factory "DJ" stamp in black ink. I'd rate this cover as EX++. The vinyl looks like it was maybe played once. It's pristine, NMINT+. Overall, this copy is in the NMINT- to NMINT range. It's $18.00.
COPY #5. Just in, the cover on this one looks clean and nice, with just a touch a record ring wear visible on the front. But on closer inspection, there's some spine damage, the bottom seam has been carefully repaired, the top seam has been partially (but carefully) repaired, there are two rubber stamped addresses on the back, and the back also shows some toning and general wear. So this cover is maybe VG- -- as I said, a bit rough, even though it looks quite nice from the front. The vinyl is super nice. I see just one very light scuff and one very light scratch. It plays super! It's NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, this one is in the EX- range. It's just $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MESSAGE FROM MAYNARD -- Roulette SR-52101

Message from Maynard is defintely my favorite Roulette album. This is the STEREO version. The tunes on this LP are absolutely outstanding, from barn-burner, up tempo tracks, to deep, rich ballads, it's one of the greatest albums ever released by MF -- no question about it! If you don't have a copy, treat yourself to one!!! Maynard absolutely wails!!!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD '64 -- Roulette R-52107

This is the MONO version of one of the harder MF Roulette albums to find. I'm not sure why, but the print run must have been pretty small. Anyway, many collectors don't have a copy due to its relative rarity. Tracks listed on the cover include For the Cats, Vignette, New Bag Blues, Easy Chair, My Sweetie Went Away, She Didn't Say Where, When, or Why, Animated Suspension, He Can't Swing, Great Guns, and Rock Me to Sleep. However, on the record labels, "He Can't Swing" is listed as "Saturday Night (Is the Lonliest [sic] Night of the Week)" and "Rock Me to Sleep" is listed as "Do Nothing Till You Hear from Me." The cover is incorrect, and the label is correct. Regardless of this typo, it's A GREAT LP!!!
COPY #1. This copy once belonged to Robert C. Fleming, Director of Bands of the University of Tennessee. I know this because he rubber-stamped that information front and back. Ouch! There's also ring wear and some ink marking on the back. This cover is VG- -- below average, although it looks fairly nice from the front except for the rubber stamp. The vinyl, on the other hand, is a very nice NMINT-. Overall, this one is EX-. Due to the problems with the cover, this one would be a great listening copy at only $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, MAYNARD '64 -- Roulette SR-52107

This is the STEREO version of one of the harder MF Roulette albums to find.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is cracked and starting to split along the top seam, but otherwise it's a clean and nice cover, with just a bit of surface wear visible. It's still an EX+ cover. The record labels are clean and nice (like new), and the vinyl has just a few very light scuffs and minor surface scratches which don't affect play. It's an EX+ disc, as well. Overall, this one is EX+ and it's $13.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, THE WORLD OF MAYNARD FERGUSON -- Roulette R-52110

Here's the MONO version of this great Roulette LP. It contains 9 of Maynard's greatest Roulette tracks! Screamin'! They're incredibly popular with collectors.
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this copy shows some signs of surface wear front and back, and a little edge wear. Still, it's well above average -- EX. The vinyl is just super -- NMINT! Overall, let's call this copy EX++. A very hard-to-find LP -- $15.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows a bit of light surface wear and on the back there's a small, rectangular spot of toning where a sticker was removd. Still, it's a NMINT- cover. The vinyl is EX+. Overall, this copy is EX++. A very nice copy, it's yours for $15.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows just a hint of wear. It's NMINT- to NMINT, with ultra clean and nice front paper, and zero seam splitting. The vinyl, however, has quite a few parallel surface scratches and scuffs. It plays with some definite audible background noise. I'd rate it as just VG. So this copy is maybe EX-, overall. Beautiful cover, marginal vinyl, this one is just $7.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has some surface wear visible front and back. There are four tiny pinholes near upper left the pierce through the cover. There's also a bit of discoloration at upper right where a price sticker was removed. This cover is just average -- VG to VG+. The vinyl, on the other hand, is quite nice. It's NMINT-. Overall, this one is EX -- a solid copy, but the nice part is definitely the vinyl. Yours for $11.00.
COPY #5. Just in, this one is still sealed in the original factory shrink wrap. I can see a corner bend at upper right underneath the shrink, which reduces this one to NMINT instead of MINT. But the vinyl is, obviously, MINT. Overall, let's call this one NMINT+. It's $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, THE WORLD OF MAYNARD FERGUSON -- Roulette SR-52110

Here's the STEREO version of this great Roulette LP. For some reason, this particular LP in STEREO is just incredibly hard to find. It contains 9 of Maynard's greatest Roulette tracks! Screamin'! They're incredibly popular with collectors.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

COUNT BASIE & MAYNARD FERGUSON, BIG BAND SCENE '65-- Roulette R 52117

This is the MONO version of this Count Basie / MF release. Basie's band is on Side A, and Maynard's is on Side B, on the tracks "X" Stream, Sin Blues, Bye Bye Blackbird, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Saturday Nite, and Maria. I can't keep these in stock for long!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this copy is in super, NMINT condition. The vinyl has one surface scuff. It's still NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, this a NMINT copy -- $20.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is super clean and nice, with the only problems being a tiny bend at upper right which affects only the very tip of the cover, and a bend a lower right that's only visible from the back, and then it's very, very minor. This is still easily a NMINT- cover, tending to NMINT. The vinyl has a little factory defect to the record label on the "Basie" side -- a little slit in the label paper near the spindle hole. Looks like it came from the factory that way. Minimal problem, but worth mentioning. The disc itself is NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT-. A nice, solid copy, it's yours for $16.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one is super clean and nice. It looks like it just came out of the shrink wrap. The only issue, at all, is a very, very slight bend at lower right. It's hardly noticeable, and the cover easily rates a NMINT. The vinyl, which may be never-played, was pulled in and out of the sleeve sloppily by someone, and it caused a few scuffs and light surface scratches. Thus, an otherwise MINT disc can only be rated as NMINT-. A really nice copy, nevertheless, and well worth $16.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one is a crisp and nice NMINT to NMINT+. It looks like it just came out of the shrink wrap. The vinyl is EX+ on the Basie side, and NMINT on the MF side. Overall, this one is in the NMINT- range. It's yours for $16.00.

COUNT BASIE & MAYNARD FERGUSON, BIG BAND SCENE '65-- Roulette SR 52117

This is the STEREO version of this Count Basie / MF release. Basie's band is on Side A, and Maynard's is on Side B, on the tracks "X" Stream, Sin Blues, Bye Bye Blackbird, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Saturday Nite, and Maria. I can't keep these in stock for long!
COPY #1. This is the first STEREO version of this LP I've had in some time. The cover is a clean and nice NMINT. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED, but I'll call it NMINT+ just to be on the safe side. What a SUPERB LP!!! Yours for $22.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is relatively clean and nice with just a bit of record ring and surface wear visible. It's NMINT-. The vinyl is probably never-played -- NMINT+. Overall, this copy is in NMINT condition. It's yours for $20.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one was in shrink wrap when I got it. I removed the shrink because it was torn and a bit dirty, and underneath, the cover is almost like new, with the exception that someone wrote the number "4" (small) in red in on the back, in the bottom corner where the shrink was missing. Next to that "4" there's some slight discoloration where a price sticker was removed. Due to this minor damage, instead of NMINT+, I'm going to call the cover NMINT-. The disc shows one scuff and a few very, very light surface scratches that don't affect play. It plays very nicely. I'd call the vinyl EX++. Overll, let's call this one EX++. It's $14.00.

COUNT BASIE & MAYNARD FERGUSON, BIG BAND SCENE '65 (U.K. RELEASE) -- Columbia EMI 33SX 1735

This is the U.K. MONO version of this Count Basie / MF release. Basie's band is on Side A, and Maynard's is on Side B, on the tracks "X" Stream, Sin Blues, Bye Bye Blackbird, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Saturday Nite, and Maria. This U.K. pressing is perhaps 10 times as rare as the U.S. version!
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this U.K. LP I've ever had for sale on the website. The cover looks quite nice, but on closer inspection there is a bend at bottom right, a 5" seam repair at bottom right, and a closed tear (fairly hard to see) at bottom center. So the cover is definitely flawed and only rates a VG-, although it looks EX. The vinyl EX. Overall, it rates maybe a VG to VG+. This one is just $10.00.

THE MAYNARD FERGUSON YEARS -- Roulette K-101

This is a two-LP MONO boxed set of many of the great recordings from the Roulette era. It's very, very popular. I have a very hard time keeping them in stock.
COPY #1. The box cover on this one looks great from the front (just a bit of surface wear), but there's significant edge wear, and I had to make numerous repairs to the edges with transparent tape. The repairs were successful, although somewhat visible, and it's pretty solid now, and rates an EX-. The vinyl has a few light scuffs and surface scratches, but they're very minor, and don't significantly affect play. I'd rate it as EX+. Overall, this copy is EX. A solid, but flawed, copy -- $8.00.

THE MAYNARD FERGUSON YEARS -- Roulette SK-101

This is a two-LP STEREO boxed set of many of the great recordings from the Roulette era. It's very, very popular. I have a very hard time keeping them in stock.
COPY #1. The box cover on this one looks quite nice, but there are a few problems. We need to thank "Harold S. Schuyler" for writing his name (lightly) in ink on the front cover at top right. Someone apparently put a glass on the cover, and his caused a very light ring that's relatively hard to see. The bottom right corner of the box cover is also crunched just a bit. And there's a very light scratch to the front paper at left. All this sounds rather ominous, but frankly, this is a really nice looking box! I was very surprised to find so many little things wrong, but I still think it rates an EX-, at least. It really looks nice! The two discs are NMINT! This one even retains the original Roulette advertising insert. Overall, this copy is EX+. A nice, solid copy, albeit with several small cover flaws. It's well worth $10.00.
COPY #2. Just in, the box cover on this one has some definite surface wear visible, and all four box corners on the front cover are split. The box back is solid, but the backing paper wasn't glued down too well. Someone wrote some small numbers in blue in next to four of the tracks. So the box cover is just average, VG, although it looks more like EX from the front. The discs, however, are NMINT++, and they may never have been played. Overall, this copy is EX+. Yours for $10.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE BIG BAND SOUND OF MAYNARD FERGUSON (UK RELEASE) -- Roulette 2432 010

This is a RARE British compilation LP of various tracks from the Roulette years. Included are Bye Bye Blackbird, Maria, Stompin' at the Savoy, Round Midnight, Dancing in the Dark, That Old Feeling, Four, I'll Be Seeing You, Tenderly, They Can't Take That Away from Me, What's New, It's a Pity to Say Goodnight, Almost Like Being in Love, and Mango's. Great stuff from the prime of MF's career. And, it has a unique cover like nothing you've seen in the U.S. The photos of MF on the front and back covers appear to date to the mid 1970s.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, THE WORLD'S GREATEST MUSIC SERIES, 'POP' JAZZ -- Artia-Parliament WGM-2B

This is a five-LP MONO boxed set of many of the great recordings from the Roulette era. It includes Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Billy Eckstine, Louis Armstrong, Chris Connor, several other groups, and Maynard Ferguson. Maynard's tracks include The Pharaoh, Pretty Little Neida, New Blue, and Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child. Please make sure you understand that these Artia-Parliament discs come in 6 different collectible flavors. Part A (5 discs) MONO, Part A STEREO, Part B (5 discs) MONO, Part B STEREO, and as a 10-disc set AB MONO, and AB STEREO. This is Part B (5 discs) MONO.
COPY #1. The box cover on this one has a few problems, which is quite typical of this almost 40-year-old series. It's got a little damage to the bottom right corner, a 3.5" spine split at bottom center, and shows a little surface wear in places. Still, it's one of the better boxes I've seen. I'd rate it as EX- to EX. The vinyl is very nice, with just a few light scuffs on a couple of the discs. Let's call it NMINT-. And, this copy retains the original loose-leaf liner notes inside the cover. A nice, solid, EX+ copy overall. I've seen these priced at $40.00 and up. This nice copy, just $15.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, PARLIAMENT POP SERIES, JAZZ -- Parliament Pop Series PAK EE

This is a five-LP STEREO boxed set of many of the great recordings from the Roulette era. It includes Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Billy Eckstine, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, several other groups, and Maynard Ferguson. Maynard's tracks include Frame for the Blues and Where's Teddy. Even more interesting is a photographically cropped picture of Maynard's hands playing the trumpet on the front cover. It was cropped from the "Jazz for Dancing" LP cover. This is a VERY hard set of records to come by. I think I've seen a total of 3 copies, including the one in my personal collection. They were just an afterthought, apparently, licensed by Artia-Parliament from Roulette, and pressed in a relatively small quantity. That's what makes them so hard to find and interesting today.
COPY #1. The box cover on this one is super clean and nice, with the only problem being two cracks on the edges, front to back. Still, it's a NMINT- box cover. The vinyl is generally clean and nice, ranging from NMINT- to NMINT. Overall, let's call this copy NMINT-. If you're trying to get one of everything, this is a MUST. A very clean and collectible copy, very hard to find, $20.00.

ECHOES OF AN ERA, THE HERBIE MANN-MAYNARD FERGUSON YEARS, Roulette RE-109

This is an early '70s re-issue album including some of the greatest charts of the Roulette era. It's a double, gatefold album, with Herbie Mann on disc 1, and MF on disc 2. Hard to find!
COPY #1. The cover on this one is great, with just a slight record wear ring showing on both the front and rear covers -- EX+. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, the album is NMINT-. $11.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is quite nice, with just a little surface wear in places. It's EX+. The vinyl is PRISTINE! NMINT+. Overall, this is a great copy, in NMINT- to NMINT condition. $12.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy is clean, but there's a tear at upper left from a sticker removal and a little wrinkle to the very tip of the upper right corner. Due to the tear, it's only VG. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this is an EX copy. Yours for $6.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this one has some definite record ring wear, front and back. Too bad, because otherwise it's in super condition. I'd rate it as EX due to the ring wear. The vinyl is almost certainly MINT, NEVER PLAYED!!! Overall, this one is EX++ to NMINT-. AND ... IT'S BEAUTIFULLY AUTOGRAPHED ON THE FRONT BY MAYNARD, IN A WIDE, SPRAWLING STYLE. HE REALLY WAS THINKING BIG WHEN HE AUTOGRAPHED THIS ONE. Yours for $20.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this one shows just a hint of wear. It's NMINT. The vinyl, which has RARE WHITE PROMO LABELS (only the second set like this I've ever seen), is NMINT+. A super copy, with very rare labels, it's $18.00.

COPY #1. The cover on this one has a tiny bit of record ring wear, and a little wear on the seams, but it's minimal. I'd rate the cover as NMINT-. There's no indication that the vinyl was ever played ... it's NMINT++ to MINT. Overall, this copy is NMINT. A super copy, it's yours for $15.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one has some record ring and surface wear, front and back. There's also a little light staining in a couple of places -- very minor, but worth a mention. I'd rate this cover as EX to EX+. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this copy is in the EX++ range. Yours for $13.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy has a bit of the typical record ring wear and a couple of minor seam cracks (one top center, one bottom center). I'd rate this cover as EX to EX+. The vinyl is a seldom-played NMINT. Overall, this copy is in the NMINT- range. It's yours for $14.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON, GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN, MAY 30, 1962 -– Joyce LP-1112

Here's one of the VERY RAREST of all Maynard Ferguson LPs. It was put out in limited quantities by the Joyce Record Company in the 1970s, and is probably rarer than even the Ballad Style of MF LP. Tracks include Almost Like Being in Love, Where's Teddy, Old Man River, My Funny Valentine, Three More Foxes, It's a Lazy Afternoon, and Jazzberries -- some of his most popular material from the Roulette era. However, this is a live recording from Gothenburg, Sweden, recorded 5/30/62. In the past these have sold for $250.00 or more. ULTRA, ULTRA RARE, and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR EVERY SERIOUS MF COLLECTION!!!
COPY #1. Just in, the cover on this one is pretty bad. It's got a lot of toning and foxing from humidity. (It came from Hawaii.) Also, there's a small hole in the front cover at top center, and other general wear. The best I can rate it is GOOD, which in everyday language means "not too good." The vinyl, on the other hand, is really superb. I played both sides, and the fidelity is as good as it gets on this live recording, with no skips, pops, or other issues. It's NMINT+. So this copy is for listening, not for looks. Due to the cover issues with this one, it's just $35.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
COPY #2. Just in, the cover on this one is super clean and nice as I just removed it from the original shrink wrap, which was getting badly frayed. The only problem with the cover is a hole punch at upper right -- a cut-out copy. So rather than a NMINT+ rating, the hole punch reduces it to just NMINT-. The vinyl is really superb. I see no spindle marks, so I'm not sure it's ever been played. Conservatively, it's NMINT++. Due to the cover issue with the hole punch, it's just $75.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
COPY #3. Just in, the cover on this one shows a little bit of brownish toning in places. It's minor, but worth a mention. I'd rate this cover as NMINT-. The vinyl is really superb. I see no spindle marks, so I'm not sure it's ever been played. Conservatively, it's NMINT++. Overall, I'm going to rate this one as NMINT. I doubt you'll ever find one nicer. So let's price this nice copy at $110.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
COPY #4. Just in, the cover on this one has a hole punch at upper right (a cut-out item). There's also some scribbling on the cover in blue ink. But otherwise, it's a pretty nice cover. Due to these flaws, though, I only feel comfortable rating this cover as VF. The vinyl is really nice. A quick listen sounded quite nice, with just a little bit of crackling in the super soft areas (mostly the tune introductions). Conservatively, it's EX++. Overall, I'm going to rate this one as EX-. It's an imperfect cover with quite nice vinyl. It should be worth the conservative asking price of $35.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
COPY #5. Just in, the cover on this one is relatively clean and nice with just a bit of surface wear in a few places. The top center seam and bottom center seam are just barely starting to crack a bit, but neither is broken through. It's a nice cover, rating at least an EX++. The vinyl is really quite nice. It's NMINT-. Overall, I'm going to rate this one as EX++ to NMINT-. It's a very nice copy. It's priced at $75.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
COPY #6. Just in, the cover on this one is very nice. It's still in the original shrink wrap, and underneath the shrink it appears to be near-perfect. It's NMINT+. The vinyl looks mint, but it might have been played once. Let's call it NMINT++. Overall, I'm going to rate this one as NMINT+ to NMINT++. So let's price this super nice copy at $135.00. AND ... this copy comes with a CD of the album made directly from LP. I offer this free bonus because this LP has never been released on CD.
