This is a poem about the way I feel when people hurt me emotionally.

Single Self

As I sit my eyes wander,
They settle on you across the room,
A simple glance to change my world.
As you walk toward me I remember past experiences with people like you,
The hurt and pain,
The deep gashes in my soul.
Yet you still lure me,
Catch me in your web like a helpless fly,
Struggling uselessly.
And it ends like it has before,
My soul ripped,
My heart shattered,
And that is why I stay a single self.
