Scientists in the laboratory of Professor Harvey Jian-Min Hou at UMass Dartmouth are interested in elucidating the structure and function of membrane proteins including photosynthetic reaction centers and G protein-coupled receptors and developing technologies in solar fuel production and drug discovery. Four ongoing research projects are (1) Structural and Mechanistic Studies of Mn-oxo Complex and Co-based Water-splitting catalysts, (2) Molecular Mechanisms of American Cranberries Against Environmental Stress, (3) Photoacoustic Studies of Photobiological Reactions, and (4) Structure and Function of G Protein-coupled Receptors.

Research Interests

Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Photosynthesis, Solar Energy Catalysis and Nanotechnology, G Protein-coupled Receptors, Cranberry Plant Biology
