Heritage Needlework Design <I>

Welcome to Heritage Needlework Design!

About the Artist:

In 1988, my husband Lee, and I visited his Great-aunt in Great Britain. When we asked to see "the old Smith family farm", you can imagine Lee's surprise, when he stepped onto the grounds of his great great grandfather's property, that had been turned into a public museum, at Harrow, now known as "Headstone Manor"! In the souvenir shop, amongst their various items, were counted cross stitch charts of the three main buildings. One being the residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, built in the 1400's. Little did I know then, these charts would inspire me to start designing my own historically based needlework here in Manitoba! And so, in 1995 "Heritage Needlework Design" was born. It was a labour of love, that required a good deal of time and lots of patience. And of course written permission from the site curator!

The following year, I received a commission from MP John Harvard to do the Grant's Old Mill for his constituency office. At the same time, Education Minister Linda McIntosh commissioned me to design St. Charles Church. Mrs. McIntosh donated the piece to the church which in turn approved the general sale of my design chart.

The easy to follow, large print Heritage Needlework Design chart, is designed for 14 ct. Included with each design chart are other counts and accompanying sizes for each. All designs are copyrighted, and retail from $6 to $12.00. Your chart package consists of: a black and white symbol chart, DMC Floss referral page, detailed designer notes, written while I stitch a prototype, and a colour photograph of the model.
