BAND INFORMATION:
THE RISE TO FAME:
This band's rise to fame has been less than peaceful. Our Lady Peace, a Toronto based band were formed in 1992 when vocalist Raine Maida answered a classified ad. Our Lady Peace never took the indie route. They attended a few music industry seminars and conferences, made a three-song demo and achieved a recording contract with Sony Music Canada.

WHY "OUR LADY PEACE??"
Have you ever wondered where Our Lady Peace got their name? The name Our Lady Peace actually comes from a poem written by Mark Van Doren. Some people get confused and think Our Lady Peace are associated with religion. It is also said that around the time the band was signed, Raine Maida (vocals) received some mail for "Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens". Raine still hasn't opened the letter.

The RELEASE OF NAVEED:
Naveed was released in May of 1994. The album sold over 500,000 copies in Canada and the US. The cover features Saul fox who is a friend of the band. You may also recognize him on the cover of clumsy as well.

THE BIG TWO YEAR TOUR:
Could you imagine, Touring for two years. Playing 5 to 6 nights a week? Well that is just whatOur Lady Peace did. They toured with bands such as: Bush, Van Halen, Page and Plant and Alanis Morissette for two years.

THE RELEASE OF CLUMSY:
In February 1997, Our Lady Peace released their second album, Clumsy, which has gone several times platinum now. This album has brought them many more fans.

SUMMERSAULT 98':
Our lady Peace organized their very own summer tour. They invited bands which actually means something to them. Whether they met them in a hotel lobby or they're really good friends with the band, summersault has them all. http://www.summersault98.com is the addy.

Raine Maida

*Born on February 18, 1970
*Lead singer/guitarist of band
*Real name is Michael Raine Maida
*Studied at the University of Toronto
*Has a brother who is 18 years younger than him
*Has a tattoo on the right side of his back
*On the tour bus, Raine sleeps above Jeremy
*His girlfriend is singer Chantel Kreviazuk

Duncan Coutts

*Born on February 4, 1969
*Plays bass, piano, cello and sings for band
*Replaced Chris Eacrett as bassist in 1995
*His real name is Rob Duncan Coutts
*On the tour bus, Duncan sleeps on the bottom of the left bunk

Jeremy Taggart
*Born on April 27, 1975
*Drummer of band
*Joined band right after high school
*On the tour bus, Jeremy sleeps on the bottom of the right bunk
*In the video for "Hope," you can see Jeremy flying a kite
