This has been the most scenic portion of my trip
so far. I have a feeling that I'll wish I'd spent more time there!!
Albany
Denmark
Supposedly, Ocean Beach is one of the best surfing
beaches in the world. It looks calm from here, but head around that
peninsula to the right and there's tons of waves with everybody from the
surf club in the water. I asked about borrowing a surfboard, but
no luck! :(
Ceduna
Stayed at a WONDERFUL hostel in Albany - I loved my "room with a view"!
Bummed about missing so many beautiful coastal
cities between Perth & Albany (I'd taken the Greyhound bus straight
through), I decided to backtrack for a day to Denmark. Left my pack
in Albany & enjoyed "travelling light" for once!!
In the morning I took a kayak
tour.
That afternoon I rode a bike
borrowed from the Backpackers hostel - took a couple hours to get out here
to Ocean Beach
Esperance
Also found a great hostel in Esperance... a very friendly group, and a relaxing place to stay

Part way across the Nullarbor, stopped in a small little place called Ceduna... we caught a squid off the dock, just with a little hand line. Since Yusuke knew what he was doing, he cleaned & chopped... next thing you know we were eating sashimi less than an hour after the poor little squid was pulled from the ocean. Delicious, though, I must say.
