HOME IS WHERE YOU PARK IT

Linda and I (Ron) have been dreaming about living fulltime in a 5th. wheel trailer for years now. It seems like an odd way to live to a lot of people but after reading and thinking and talking to others and dreaming about it, it's the only way to go!

On our home page, I promised you some super links and told you that we will be retiring in about two years. We plan on selling our house, buying a 5th. wheel trailer and living fulltime on the road. Each year we consider our vacations as training for our future lifestyle (were getting pretty good at it !).

I promised you links, so we'll do the links and infomation stuff, then I'll tell you more about why fulltiming is for us.

First on the list is ESCAPEES RV CLUB (we're SKP# 46326). This is the main RV club for fulltimers. They have many services designed just for fulltimers. They also have their own campgrounds (we visited their headquarters & campground last year, in Texas. The campground was great and the people were wonderful!), they publish their own magazine and a number of great books on the lifestyle.
It's a must join, even if your not a fulltimer (yet)!

I found this page this morning, it's a real nice page!
FALCOR'S FINDINGS Scott and Debbie Murtagh have done most of our work for us. It would take forever to find the links they have added to this page, good work guys, we appreciate it!

If you want another couple's experience with the lifestyle, click onto Ron & Barb Hofmeister's MOVIN' ON page. Be sure to read the Detroit News article about them for a good overview of fulltiming. This is another great page!

The ON THE ROAD page is another good page for a lot of RV information. It is a regular RV magazine on the net, with a bunch of how to's, where to's, when to's and why do's. It seems to be up-dated often.

Just found another page full of great links for the RVer. It's BIK'S CYBER RV. Check it out!

Don't forget the GOOD SAM CLUB and it's Trailer Life magazine. If your reading this, your bound to be a member already, everyone else is.

One of our favorite places in the whole country is YOSEMITE ! This page will tell you all there is to know, to plan a visit to the park and the area around it. If you can't go to Yosemite now, click on HALF DOME and dream about being there.

The NATIONAL PARKS page is about all of OUR parks.

For information about RVing in general, campgrounds, lifestyle, the RVs companies, etc., try RV USA or go to THE RV ZONE.

Another site that looks promising is PASSPORT AMERICA. We're not members, but may soon be. Apparently for $39.00 ($29.00 if you're an escapees member) you get a card that gives you 50% off camping fees at 400 parks across the country. Check out their list of campgrounds and see if it fits your needs.

I've got to tell you about this! The CAMPER CLUBS OF AMERICA was a real surprise. It's a membership campground network. We joined it just before we went on our 4 week, cross country vacation. I hoped we didn't throw our $179.00 away. They advertised $5.00 a night fees at over 250 campgrounds.

Out of 28 nights on the road, we spent 21 in their campgrounds. All but one (which you couldn't pay us to stay in, and you can believe the home office heard about it!) were first rate. Most were resort quality. After 30+ years of camping, these were some of the better campgrounds I've been in.

From Ca. to Fl. and back, they were clean, well kept and friendly. Yes, they were all $5.00 a night. We saved well over $100.00 after our membership fee. Thanks to Cindy Johnson in So. Carolina, who found and sent me the CCA page, I couldn't find it anywhere on the net.

We have a bunch of books on fulltime RVing, some are in boxes and I can't find them right now, but here are the ones I could find:

HOME IS WHERE YOU PARK IT

SURVIVAL OF THE RV SNOWBIRDS

TRAVEL WHILE YOU WORK

THE NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA FOR RVERS

All the above books are by Joe and Kay Peterson. They are the founders of the Escapees RV Club and the books can bought through the club.

AN ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE by Ron and Barb Hofmeister (see link above)

FULLTIMING by Gaylord Maxwell (I think I got this one at Camping World)

When I dig out the other books I'll add them to the list (a couple of them were super but I can't remember the titles, sorry!).

I just found the one book I was looking for. It's probably the best one I have on fulltiming.
FULL-TIME RVING (A COMPLETE GUIDE TO LIFE ON THE ROAD) by Bill and Jan Moeller.
This book is great! The Moellers seem to update this book every few years. The copy I have is the 1993 edition, so I'm sure there's a newer edition out by now. This is a Trailer Life book. You should be able to get through Trailer Life Magzine or through the Good Sam Club.

Before I end this page, I wanted to tell ya'all about the 5th wheel trailer we're looking into buying. It's made by AMERICANA. They have a different way of doing business, that we like (and also saves money). If your looking into getting a 5th wheel you might want to check them out, we are. (Ask Russ, the owner, for a free video, it's great!).

This page is longer than I thought it would be. We've added a new page to tell our story, if anyone is interested, just gather 'round the campfire.

We've added an even newer page about our retirement, check out our Wild Wind page.

Well it's getting late for this old bird, so.....

Bye, bye for now, Ron & Linda Hill

HEY!
NOT SO QUICK!
WE HAVE GREAT NEWS ABOUT OUR DREAM!
YA'ALL HAVE TO CHECK OUT OUR "WILD WINDS" PAGE!
