Who Are We?
The Kin Club of Fort Edmonton is a member of the Association of Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Canada. The club was originally established in 1970 as the Kinsmen Club of Fort Edmonton. It became a Kin Club in 1998 to recognize and demonstrate its commitment towards young men and women working closely together to serve the community.
What Do We Do?
Our club has a strong commitment to the Association's motto: Serving the Community's Greatest Needs. We are involved in service projects at the local, regional and national levels. The types of projects in which we get involved include the following:
- Funding construction of the Dickinsfield Boys’ and Girls’ Club
- Partial funding of the operations of the Edmonton Big Sisters Society (now the Big Sister and Big Brother Society of Edmonton and Area); later provided partial funding towards construction of the Big Sisters/Big Brothers House
in the Riverdale community
- Elves Memorial Centre (now Elves Special Needs Society)
- Pax Natura Ranch for the Deaf
- Local Chapter and National Campaign for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
- Edmonton Minor Hockey Association
- Manpower for Junior High School wrestling events (city and Provincial Junior Olympics)
- Construction of a community playground with and for Northmount Community League
