Since the beginning of time—
and before the beginning of time as we know it,
God almighty was there.
He exists forever, with no beginning and no ending.
Time, or space, or distance does not bind Him…
For He created all of it by the power of His Spirit
and in His infinite wisdom.
The heavens are the work of His fingers.
Indeed, He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
He numbers the stars and calls them all by name.
The clouds are His chariot, and He walks on the wings of the wind.
It is written in the Psalms
that He arranged the stars of the heavens with His fingers!
Yes, the heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
Their words to the ends of the world.
He upholds all things by the Word of His power.
In Him, all things are held together.
By Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth.
All things visible and invisible.
All things were created through Him, and for Him.
He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Just stop and ponder this for a moment…
Be still and consider the works of His hands.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which you have set in place…
What is man that you are mindful of him?
Who are we… so tiny and powerless—so insignificant?
But the psalmist says that His thoughts toward us are so precious,
And the sum of these thoughts are so great that if they were counted,
It would be more than the sand on the earth!
Oh Lord, I will praise You, for in You I live, and move, and have my being!
The prophet Jeremiah wrote,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you…"
Oh Lord, I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made!
Who is He?
He is the everlasting God...
The Creator of the ends of the earth…
His understanding is unsearchable.
Lift up your eyes on high and see He who has created all these things!
