The P.E.I. Equine Retirement Society is an incorporated non-profit organization govererned by a board of directors made up of representatives from the department of Agriculture, the P.E.I. Humane Society, the Atlantic Vet College, members of various factions of the Island horse community, as well as animal lovers.
Our MissionThe P.E.I. Equine Retirement Society is dedicated to providing an alternative for horse owners who are faced with the dilemma of what to do with a horse who can no longer compete in its given discipline. Many of these horses while unable to compete due to age, injury, or lack of athletic ability, can still lead a long productive life in a less strenuous capacity.
