CHOOSING A DJ:

Of all the people involved with your event, the DJ is the one person who can make or break it. The best methods of selecting your DJ are to see them in action or through referrals. The music should keep the participants and guests in a festive mood. This should be accomplished mainly by the timing and selections of the music not by the DJ to bring attention to him/herself, although it would be preferable for them to have a good personality.

Your DJ should be Professional, Courteous, and Personable. If your event is at a restaurant or hotel banquet hall, your DJ will probably be working hand in hand with the host/hostess in regard to the itinerary. Meet with your DJ to discuss when certain events will take place. If the DJ is vague as to when the events, for a wedding, for example, will occur it might be a hint of not knowing and that could translate into a dull reception.

WHY CHOOSE A DJ?

A good DJ always costs less than a band, and since the music is continuous, you get more music for the money. A DJ can provide a variety of all styles of music by the original artists. A DJ can also take requests and make adjustments during the course of the event, sensing what music is working is working and what is not. Good sound equipment can be adjusted to suit any size room or audience. Visual effects, like lights are offered as an option. A DJ is also a professional emcee, experienced at making announcements and guiding the event.

WHAT IS KARAOKE?

Karaoke is a Japanese abbreviated compound word: "kara" comes from "karappo" meaning empty, and "oke" is the abbreviation of "okesutra," or orchestra. Usually, a recorded popular song consists of vocals and accompaniment. Music disks in which only the accompaniment is recorded
is named "karaoke."

Karaoke gives you an opportunity to sing a selected song, with the words being highlighted on a television screen or monitor. There are literally thousands of songs available that were made popular by famous artists. The instrumental portions of the song are played by professional studio musicians and closely resemble the sound made byt he original artists. The rest is up to you as the vocalist.
