The Heartbeat Of Trees

The Heartbeat Of Trees

As I walk through the rain-filled trees and
liquid filled potholes, I think of the way you
used to smile at the stupid little things i used
to do with my fingers.
How you used to mimick the birds while you spoke
those impecable words of beauty.
The way your body moved at the heights of life.
The times when you whispered dirty things to my
earlobes while amidst society.
The time you left me and the tears stained
my black jeans for days on end.
I can still remember how many times
your heart beats in a minute.
