Find what colors look best on you. I recomend the
book " Color Me Beutiful " or at least determine whether your
skin has a warm (yellow based) or cool (blue based) tone.
Remember that pattern sizes are often one to two
sizes larger than ready to wear clothing.
It's easiest to start with a pattern that is for
a loose garment and then tailor it in after the final sewing.
Its better to choose separates rather than dresses
and jumpers. You can size the top and pants or skirt separately for a better
fit.
Always take measurements for sizing over the type
of foundation garments you are going to wear with the item you plan to
make.
