When I first cut this picture out of that GQ magazine to put up on our wall to cover the
flowered wallpaper that mom put up on our bedroom walls, I had no idea that this picture
would inspire you to take such a liking to the unnamed girl. To this girl we gave the
name "Alissa," not knowing her real name and needing something to call the figure that
came to decorate an entire wall of our room as your hobby grew. I covered the walls in
Absolut ads, and you covered them in Ralph Lauren ads. Women and alcohol. I'm sure
Freud would have loved it. It became our weekly quest to Barnes 'n' Noble to search the
magazine racks for vodka and Bridget Hall, whose name Becky finally told us. Eventually,
you turned to the web for a better chance to share your hobby and you taught me html,
which I must say "now I am the master." We grew up like this, and now that I have gone
away, I give you this page as a Christmas present with the promise that someday, we will
have a place of our own and we will once again cover the walls in our own respective delights.
