As you might know, Scully's apartment number is "5" and Mulder's is the number "42". Are they just numbers? James Manning's Prophecies for the New Millennium tells us another story.

First, consider Scully; "Another significant numerological statement is found above the doorway of the King's Chamber, [in the Great Pyramid] where there are four distinct, parallel lines that descend from the ceiling to the top of the door. They divide the area into four equal spaces, and so make anyone who enters the King's Chamber bow to the number five, the symbol for the human race and the sign of creation.

And then Mulder; "'And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast. . .having seven heads and ten horns. . .and the dragon gave him his power. . .And they worshipped the beast saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?. . . and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. . .' (Revelations 13.1-18) The role of the Anti-Christ, of the Beast, whose number is 666, is one of the main concerns of apocalyptic millennarianism, it is thought that he will rule the world for forty two months before the battle of Armageddon."
