ETHIOPIANS LIVING IN SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA CELABRATED ETHIOPIAN NEW YEAR.
100s of Ethiopians living in San Diago California celebrated the Ethiopian New year on September 12, 1997 . The celebration was organized by Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido St. Gebriel's Church in San Diego. It was one of the best celebration and fund- raising event intended to build a new Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido St. Gebriel Church . In this event one of Ethiopian legend artist singer Teshome Asegid was performing the entire night. Teshome, who traveled a long wa y to San Diego was performing on this event free charitable performance. On the opening ceremony a group of girls wearing Ethiopian traditional dress " Tilf" sang a new year song " Abebayehu hoy ... lemlme .." and threw flower to the audience. The ceremony was ended by Ms. Yayesh's speech, who is one of the organizers who thanked every one that dedicated their time and money for the success of this event. Besides that, a beautiful girl presented a flower gift on behalf of all Ethiopians to Singer Teshome Asegid who celebrated his Birthday one day before the event, and every body wished him " HAPPY BIRTH DAY TESHOME......" in one voice.
