"9999 Worldwide Campaign Event in San Francisco Bay Area"
On Sept.11th, 1999 at 12:00 noon, the Burma Image
Group held an Action Demonstration in front of City
Hall, San Francisco, CA, USA., in harmony with the
International Burmese Activist forces around the World.
Ko Ko Lay (Burma Image) acted as Master of Ceremonies.
Victor Win (Burma Image) read the statements from
National Council of the Union of Burma(NCUB), All
Burma Students Democratic Front(ABSDF), James
Mawdsley's(British-Australia citizen presently
arrested by Junta)letter to the people of Burma.
U Myat Htoo(Burma Image founder),
Daw Yee Yee Lay(Burmese American Women Alliance),
Jean Gale(Burma Image),
Robert Aung Myint,
Richard Aung Myint(Burmese Association),
Dr.Kyaw Tint(Burmese Association),
Daw Tin Tin Win(Burmese American Women Association),
U Khin Maung Oo,
U Kyi Soe(Burma Image) and Ko NyuntThan,
gave speeches regarding all Burmese people
outside of Burma to join hands in Unity and Solidarity
and to take a stand in working actively in achieving
Democracy for our Country and our Burmese people.
This was followed by a march around the Civic Center
Plaza in front of City Hall, chanting slogans with the
"Free Burma" banner leading the procession. Around 50
people attended the rally.
Then we proceeded with the Hunger Strike. It was a
very successful event. We believe that we were able to
keep the momentum going in sending a clear message to
Burma's military regime that enough is enough. The
people of Burma do not want military rule anymore. We
also pledged that we will keep this momentum alive
until Burma can become a Democratic country.
