10-18-99: Bryan Ferry has a new CD released 10-18-99 called "As Time Goes By". It's full of romantic songs from the 30's and 40's . Robin produced Bryan's Taxi and Mamouna albums and was supposed to be producing his next album. Taxi was a album of 40's songs and Mamouna was modern 90's style. Robin played guitar for Bryan Ferry's Mamouna tour. As far as credits for As Time Goes By Robin is not listed as the producer, if anyone has any info to the contrary let me know. Bryan Ferry is touring to promote "As Time Goes By", check Ticketmaster and Pollstar for dates.

BGO has previously released Robin Trower's Chrysalis recording as 2 on 1 CDs, alas Back It Up is only a single because was the last studio recording released on Chrysalis Records. Back It Up was also the last studio recording to be released by Robin Trower with Jimmy Dewar singing vocals. BGO's number is CD: BGOCD426. The songs in this release are: Back It Up, River, Black To Red, Benny Dancer, Time Is Short, Islands, None But The Brave, Captain Midnight, Settling The Score.

New: 07-05-1999 According to an ad in the July issue of the ICE Newsletter there will be another reissue of Bridge Of Sighs with 5 bonus tracks. The release date is set as August 10, 1999 on Chrysalis/Capitol Records. Thanks to Daryl for the tip.

New: 06-12-1999 The Sept. 24, 1999 show at the London Astoria II has been canceled. Robin Trower's management said that Livingstone Brown has signed a contract with another band that Livy is involved with, and he will be unavailable to play with Robin in the immediate future (maybe a year or longer), since a replacement would take too long to train the gig is canceled (Robin's management says that ticketmaster jumped the gun and that any who purchased should get their money refunded from Ticketmaster).
Bad news for UK fans :-( How about a solo unpluged show?

New: 06-08-1999 CDNow has a BGO 2-on-1 CD of Matthew Fisher's(Procol Harum's keyboard player & producer of Robin Trower's first solo recordings) albums Matthew Fisher//Strange Days BGOCD308 originally released 1979/1981.

New: 02-26-1999 The new LIVE double CD "Robin Trower This Was Now '74~'98" has arrived. It can be ordered from V-12 Records direct, check Trower Power Newsletter Information web page and e-mail them for more Info. If you bring your copy of this or any other Trower album to one of concerts Robin usually signs cds or albums after the show by the limo.

The artwork on "This Was Now" Cd is done by Robin Trower himself (I like the artwork). The singlewide double Cd case that I received has a flimsy partition that flips out when the second Cd is accessed. The Cd's bar code number is 88575-00302 but the Record Label (V-12 Records?) has been left off both the Cds and the jewel case artwork.

The first Cd is 45:10 minutes long, and is from a LIVE 1974 Pittsburg, Pennsylvania King Biscuit show. On this tour the band was: Robin Trower - guitar, James Dewar - vocals/bass, and Reg Isidore - drums.

The songs are:

  1. Bridge of Sighs © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974) (vocals not recorded well, opening act for Ten Years After radio show)

  2. Alathea © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from For Earth Below Lp 1975 as Alethea) pre-release performance (misspelling?)

  3. Lady Love © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  4. Daydream © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Twice Removed from Yesterday Lp 1973)

  5. Too Rolling Stoned © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  6. I Can't Wait Much Longer © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Twice Removed from Yesterday Lp 1973)

  7. Day of the Eagle © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  8. A Little Bit of Sympathy © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

The second Cd is 74:24 minutes long, and is from the LIVE May 21/22 1998 Seattle, Washington Ballard Firehouse show(s). This disc sounds very good. Robin seemed to play even better in 98 than 97, and this recording lets you hear how good he can play now. In 1998 the touring band was: Robin Trower - guitar/vocals, Livingstone Brown - bass/vocals, Alvino Bennett - Drums.

The songs are:

  1. Two Rolling Stoned © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  2. Rise Up Like the Sun © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994)

  3. I Want You to Love Me © Secret Door Music (Originally from Someday Blues Cd 1997)

  4. Prisoner of Love © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994)

  5. Secret Place **** This instrumental was a show stopper! © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994)

  6. Promise You the Stars © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994)

  7. Day of the Eagle © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  8. Bridge of Sighs © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  9. 20th Century Blues © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994)

  10. Little Bit of Sympathy © Chrysalis Music Ltd (Originally from Bridge of Sighs Lp 1974)

  11. Crossroads © King of Spades Music (Originally from Someday Blues Cd 1997)

  12. Extermination Blues © Secret Door Music (Originally from 20th Century Blues Cd 1994, redone for Someday Blues Cd 1997)

New: 12-22-98 Updated links 5-29-1999 Here is a link to Bob McKeenwith's web site with lyrics to some Robin Trower. Some of the lyrics may, or may not be correct as recorded in an official songbook. New: 12-15-98 The second big news from the Trower Power Newsletter (click for info about how to subscribe to the Trower Power Newsletter) is that a New Robin Trower CD is being released and it is not the best of remastered "From Earth Below, The Best Of Robin Trower" that Robin said was finished last tour and we have all been waiting for (It's still not out yet). The newsletter states that V-12 Records will be releasing a live 2 CD set.Tentatively titled "This Was Now" with two full shows from 1998 and 1974. The 98 show is from the Seattle Washington May 22, 1998 Ballard Firehouse. It is 95 minutes long with 13 songs. The 74 show is Pittsburg and was recorded by King Biscuit Flower Hour. The vocals are not recorded on the first two songs including Bridge Of Sighs due to technical difficulties. Robin was opening for King Crimson(second act) and Ten Years After(headliner). The notes in the BTO Two-on-ones by Robert Frip from King Crimson tell how he loved to watch Robin play on this tour and that the popularity of the bands at the time was reverse of their playing order. Ten Years After concert poster that says also playing Robin Trower.

The new "This Was Now" CD(click here) can be preordered from V-12. For those who are not Trower Power Newsletter subscribers, I have tried to reproduce the order segment of the newsletter so you can mail in your advance orders to Stardust Enterprises Inc and get the cd before it is available in stores. Print and cut out the order form to mail in your order, or Copy and Paste this form into a word program to print and mail in your order.

New: 12-15-98, The new Trower Power Newsletter arrived and it says that a 1999 tour is being booked. Tentative tour dates are:

Most of these dates are reported to be "firm", but they all are subject to change. Postcards will be sent to Trower Power subscribers with a list of confirmed dates early 1999. The newsletter states that Robin will be playing some new songs that he has written on this tour before they are put on a new CD. I believe that Robin commented before playing "Extermination Blues" on the 1993 tour that the madness of the LA 1992 riots were part of the inspiration for writing this song. This was about a year before the release of the 20th Century Blues CD.

New: 12-6-98 Mettallica's new release "Garage Inc." includes a hidden track after 'The more I see' on disc1. The hidden track is reported to sound like a snippet of a Mettallica version of Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs".
