Well I suppose you could say this is the 'Montreal' part of the Montreal madness. Here I plan on giving you travel advice on my great hometown.

First off, lets talk Hotels.
Now hotels depend on your budget. All prices are in Canadian currency. Some really great hotels are:
The Sheraton (about 130$ a night). Nicely situated near the downtown area.
The Hilton (about 120$ a night). A little further situated to the downtown area but direct access to a Metro (subway).
The Holiday Inn (about 110$ a night). Located in Chinatown, right in the middle of downtown and Old Montreal.

Old Montreal

Old Montreal is a place to go if you want to relax. Many artists call it like 'walking through Europe'. I love this place, the docks and stone paved roads which are filled with horse-carried carriages and outside terrasses. There are many pubs in Old Montreal but I personally prefer the terrasses where you can sit outside with your friends and a pitcher of beer and just watch the magic. Usually in the summertime there are mimes and entertainers there to put on shows and bring a smile across your face. Yearly there is the 'International Festival of Beer' held there are a branch of the 'Just for Laughs' festival. Its definetly the place to be for tourists and residents of Montreal alike.

Downtown Montreal

One word: STE-CATHERINE. This is the main road in Montreal. Anything you want will be on that road, restaurants, malls, tourist boutiques, pool halls, arcades, etc etc. It can all be found on this street which seems to go on forever and cross 6 different sections of town (rich, clubbie, Montreal typical resident, punk, gay, tourist). If you're more into the Club scene, Crescent is the street for you. It has all the popular Montreal clubs (like Club XXXtreme, Club Mercedes, Club Crescent, and Thursday's for older, more laid back folks that still like to party). The Hard Rock Cafe is also on Crescent. Crescent street can easily be accessed by Ste-Catherine or Peel Metro.

The South Shore

The Shore is a nice place, not just because I live there, but because its a little more suburban then Montreal but still has lots of cool places to be. Major malls include Promenades St-Bruno, Champlain Mall and Carrefour Richelieu. There are lots of movie theaters which can be seen in the newspaper (The Gazette for english readers and Le Journal de Montreal for french readers). Some good clubs to be are The Tequila (in St-Jean), the Fuzzy (in Brossard, 10 minutes from my house!! :-P ), Cheers (also in Brossard) and Scotyz (in Greenfield Park, 5 minutes from where I live). Friday nights are ladies' night at Scotyz, 5$ open bar for all women! If you are more into having a nice, peaceful vacation check out the St-Lawrence sea-way. Or our new Casino which is a really, really good place for all tourists to check out (its gorgeous!) The number for the Casino is 1-800-665-2274.

The Casino is situated on an island called St-Helen's Island (ile Ste-Helene Metro) where there is also our amusement park called La Ronde. More of a family getaway.
Most places in Montreal can be reached with the Metro. The Metro is very fast and relatively cheap (about 1$ each way). They run into the wee hours of the morning. It beats looking for a parking space all day. View our metro map, click Here.
