REVIEW:
In Amazing Spider-Man #13, Mary Jane takes off from JFK airport en route to a photo shoot. However, the plane never makes it to its final destination. It explodes in mid-air.

ACT 1: The issues starts with Peter having a conversation with Aunt May about him leaving for Latveria in search of Mary Jane after receiving an anonymous call that informed him that Mary Jane was being held captive in Doctor Doom's castle, and about their current financial troubles, which are the last of Peter's problems. After a quick kiss goodbye, Peter, as Spider-Man, makes his way to the airport, and hops onto the landing gear of an airplane en route for Latveria.

ACT 2: He arrives in Latveria and heads straight for DD’s castle. As he approaches the castle, a loud alarm is heard and heavily armed men in armors come running out of the castle. Spider-Man initially thinks that they are coming after him but soon realizes that they are heading somewhere else. He follows them.

ACT 3: They finally reach their destination. A mass of rebel was trying to infiltrate the castle but has been discovered. Doom's men fire at will and the rebels, with their limited weaponry, soon are besieged. Spider-Man drops in, grabs a young rebel girl who is surrounded by Doom's men, and brings her out of harm's way, leaving her father fighting behind. He sets her down in the woods and goes back for her dad. However, it is too late. Her dad has been captured. As Spider-Man web-slings down to help him, shots are fired in his direction and he falls to the ground; he's been hit. As he tries to regain his energy and continue battle, Doctor Doom himself approaches Spider-Man and tells him that he has run out of time.

ACT 4: It seems like our hero is about to be captured, but using the last of his strength, he evades the tyrant and his cronies and flees within the city, and hides in a dark alley. As he walks through the alley, a door opens up and somebody grabs him from behind. It is the girl he saved earlier; named Anna. She opens up a trap door hidden in the floor and shoves Spider-Man in the secret room below.

ACT 5: A short time later, the trap door opens up and Anna lets Spider-Man out. They talk for a while about the tyranny exercised by Doctor Doom and how Spider-Man can now help her free her father. Spider-Man agrees to help, though he does not have a plan.

ACT 6: Some time later, Spider-Man returns to the castle and enters undetected through one of the tower windows. As he makes his way through the corridors, he is suddenly attacked by Doom. A fight naturally ensues. In a strange turn of events, as Spider-Man battles Doom, the latter is revealed to be in fact a robot replica of the actual Doctor Doom. Although decapitated, the Doom robot manages to send Spider-Man flying out of the castle into the nearby woods, where our hero falls down in the bushes. As he sits up, Anna emerges from the shadowy forest and asks him if he's found her father. Spider-Man answers that he hasn't but that he now has a plan. To be continued in Peter Parker Spider-Man #15
