Amazing Spider-Man #36
WRITER:  J. Michael Straczynski
PENCILLER:  John Romita Jr.
COVER BY: N/A
INKER:  Scott Hanna
STORY TITLE: The 9/11 Tribute
REVIEW:
This issue pays tribute to the thousands of firefighters, policemen, EMS personnel and all the innocent civilians that lost their lives on September 11, 2001 when members of the Al-Queida terrorist cell hijacked four separate American airplanes and crashed two of them into the World Trade Center Towers in New York City, one of them into the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the last one near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, which was later revealed to have missed its target due to the unprecedented effort of a few individuals who had tried to stop the hijackers. Through the eyes of Spider-Man, we are subjected to the dehumanization of such acts of terrorism. But we are also subjected to the courage and hard work of the rescuers who, night and day, pursued their relentless effort to find survivors amidst the chaotic remnants of the two towers, which crumbled to the ground soon after the airplanes initially impacted. This issue is a beautiful testament to the bravery and uphill struggle of those who sacrificed their lives so that others could live. J. M. Straczynski and John Romita Jr. deliver this amazing piece of literacy with passion and intensity and personal feelings aside.
