THEORIES ON DREAMS
The Greeks, Egyptians, and other Ancients, all believed that the gods sent messages to people as they slept.
-Paranormal researchers think dreams could possibly show reality that will later take place. They feel it has a psychic element, having the ability to reveal what destiny has in store
-It has been theorized by some scientists that dreams are nothing but mere pieces of information being removed from people's minds at night
-It has been brought up by a few dream enthusiasts, that people can only comprehend the actual world by unlocking secrets contained in their dreams. Others have mentioned that images brought to us during the night, are tickets into a completely
new dimension, another reality
-Sigmund Freud, father of modern psychiatry, pictured dreams to be something created by the human brain which would reveal unfulfilled wishes, and by dreaming we could see into those treasure chests filled with what we want
-The researcher, Dr. Ian Oswald, thought dreams are uses for which the nervous system repairs brain tissue that's been worn-out
-Francis Crick and his British colleague, Graeme Mitchison, reasoned that the minds circuits are in danger of becoming overloaded with all the information it gets crammed with. All these bits of knowledge get stored in the neocortex where, despite all of the millions of nerve cells that interlock, has a limited amount of space. Overloading it, they believe, would cause confusion. Another point discovered was that most of the information taken in is useless anyway. An example of this would be the color of a cover of a book. While in the dream state, the brain sets to to work determining and sorting what has been dubbed as unimportant. In this occurence whole patterns of a person's thoughts get jumbled in along with the uneeded things
-The experiments done in dreaming and sleeping show that it has a physilogical and psychological need
