ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY The picture below is Arlington House, overlooking Arlington National Cemetary. It was built by George Washington's adopted son. Later, during the war between the states, the union army thought it was quite a joke to turn it into a cemetery.

I imagine this is one of the most frequented sites. This is JFK's grave. Jackie is buried next to him and on each side are their two babies. I believe she miscarried one, and the other died shortly after birth. Don't quote me on that though.

Below is a picture of the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They do this every half hour 365 days a year, rain or shine. It was quite impressive. I'm not sure I'd want to have to live up to the image that they portray with their uniforms in perfect order, shoes and weapons shined.

This is the actual tomb. Now they know who is actually buried in it, so it really isn't the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier anymore.

Below is the new Women in the Military Memorial. It's right at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery. I thought it was one of the nicest that I saw on my trip. They have a computer database and asked any woman who is or ever was in the military to submit a picture and some facts about where and when they served. Visitors are then able to look up women who they knew or just browse through the database and read about the contributions that women have made to the military over the years. It's been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait.
