Curtain up... Light the lights. Hello everybody, my name's BroadwayBill. I suppose a proper introduction is in order. My name is Bill Russell but many of you know me as BroadwayBill. I live in the sunny heart of Silicon Valley, a surprisingly great, but obscenely expensive city called San Jose, California. In case you hadn't noticed I'm a singer. During the day I toil away as an Advertising Salesperson... but when the sun goes down you can usually find me on stage somewhere, or in a rehearsal hall, doing what I love the most-- performing. I feel the most alive when I'm standing center stage illuminated by a lone spotlight, singing to all those people out there in the dark.
For the past nine years I've been performing with The Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus-- we're forever preparing some concert or public performance. For the past decade or so I've also appeared in over 15 productions with American Musical Theater of San Jose in such shows as "Evita", "Phantom", "Sweeney Todd", "La Cage Aux Folles", "A Chorus Line", "Annie", and "The Sound of Mucous, ehm Music". I've had the opportunity to work with such stars as Joann Worley (a true peach), John Carradine (very old then, now deceased), Larry Kert (the original Tony in West Side Story, also now, sadly deceased), Jean Stapleton (who played Edith Bunker on "All In The Family", and REALLY sings like that), as well as Joan Van Ark (Valene of TV's "Knott's Landing", and a wonderfully sweet woman).
When I'm not performing or rehearsing you can find me persuing other interests: I'm a proud parishoner at The St. Joseph Cathedral Basilica ( http://www.stjosephcathedral.org ) My friends have become fond of calling me a "Born Again Catholic". LOL.. I also enjoy spending time with my partner Dan. I have The Chorus to thank for bringing Dan and I together. He sings 2nd Tenor to my Baritone. Who'da thought I'd find a partner at rehearsal? Go figure! We both enjoy traveling, movies, quiet evenings, fine food, theater, and of course singing. In March 2008 we will celebrate our 11th Anniversary. Ah, the romance of it all!
