When I was a senior in High School I took a 3 hour block class on the medical field. We got to work side by side with a nurse on duty at Palatka hospital. We were able to work with the baby’s and go into the intensive care unit, and etc. We also visited many retirement homes. A lot of lonely old people who are dying to have a visitor. They loved it when we came to visit. All we would have to do is just talk to them. They would tell us their whole life story from when they were born to when they got married to when they had kids. It was a lot of fun. That is when I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. I loved being able to help people and take care of them. And to just put a smile on their face. I saw a lot of nurses who never smiled and didn’t even act like they like their job. I thought it was horrible you have to have a good heart to be a nurse. Nursing overall pays well. A registered nurse can make anywhere from twenty eight dollars an hour to thirty eight depending on where you work. They have many different shifts that you can work, morning, noon and night, which would be good since I plan on having a family. Family is very important to me and I want to be able to be home with my kids as much as possible. I know that as soon as soon as I am done with school I know I am guaranteed to get a job. Hospitals are always looking for nurses, full time and part time. This occupation guarantees me steady employment, hospitals and clinics are always looking for nurses And if for some reason I were to lose my job, then I know it wouldn’t be too hard to find another place to work at. I don’t think nursing would ever take over my life. I think this career is perfect for me.
