Introduction

    Can you tell me which frog is the most dangerous? Or how about which frog is

    the tiniest? How about which frog has his own TV show? This WebQuest is

    going to help you learn all about FAMOUS FROGS! I guarantee that by the time

    you’re are done this WebQuest you’ll know more about frogs than  you did before!

 

  

Task

 

   In this WebQuest you will be researching interesting facts about some of the world’s famous frogs!

   a lot of neat information is right here on this site, but there are also links for you to follow to learn

   more about the Famous Frog you are learning about. To follow the links just click on the highlighted

   words. Don’t worry, it is easy to do and you will have a POND LOAD of FUN!

 

·       Your task today is to learn about our Famous Frogs, and then write a story using the Famous Frogs as superheroes. Each frog has something very unique about them that can be used as their superpower.

·       In your story, also include a SuperFrog that you have created using your imagination! Be as creative as you like. Your SuperFrog can do anything you imagine it can do!

·       When you write your stories, use other information that we have learned in our frog unit, like, where do frogs live? What do they eat? Have fun!

The Golden Poison Dart Frog

It may be tiny but the multi-colored poison dart frog can be lethal.

The skin secretion of the golden poison dart frog (Phyllobates terribilis)

of western Colombia is one of the most poisonous substances known

to man. Several tribes in Colombia use different frog species to provide

the poisons with which they tip their blowpipes (a type of weapon). One

frog can provide enough secretion to dip 50 darts, which will remain

potent for a year!!!

The world's largest frog is the African goliath frog, which has an

average length of 30 cm (11.8 in) - about the size of a rabbit!

Eleutherodactylus limbatus of Cuba, which is 8.5 -12 mm

The North American wood frog spends TWO OR THREE MONTHS

FROZEN EACH WINTER! Its breathing and heartbeat stop and

most of the water in its body turns to ice. These frogs use a

sugar called glucose in their blood as a kind of antifreeze to

Evaluation

You will be graded on the following things.

 

1.    Your worksheets will get a mark out of 20. For example, if you get 15 correct, then your mark will be 15/20. This is worth 60% of your grade on this project.

2.    Your frog stories are worth 30% of your grade on this project. They will be graded on several things.

Teacher Page

I suggest that you use this WebQuest as one of your final projects in your frog unit. It allows the students to discover some really unique information about frogs, which ends the unit on a high note. Also, the students are able to use all their new knowledge in a creative way. This serves as a means of review and demonstrates to students some of the advantages of learning. I hope that this has been helpful!
