Sensei Sargeant

Sensei Tony Sargeant - 6th Dan

Born: 2nd Feb, 1950

Sensei Sargeant also teaches Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation.

Sensei Sargeant started aikido in September 1973. He was running a car workshop and a customer agreed to give him a good van maintenance account, only if he started training in the newly open aikido class, being run by the customer's teacher Richard Stripe.

Richard Stripe was taught aikido by Haydn Foster head of Aikido in London and after a while Sensei Sargeant started travelling into London to train under Haydn Foster. He also trained under Sensei Hamish McFarland in this period!

Sensei Sargeant went to the U.S. and trained under Bruce Klickstein who had trained under Saito Sensei for many years.

It was 1983 when Sensei Sargeant met Saito Sensei and trained under him for the next 19 years!

In 1990 Sensei Sargeant started Iwama Aikido GB with Sensei Paul Mcglone and has since established dojos in Russia, Jersey, a number around the UK and now Kefalonia in Greece!

Before Sensei Sargeant moved to Kefalonia he was living in Orwell, where he had setup a dojo for Iwama Aikido GB. I have pictures of the Orwell dojo in the gallery section!
Over the years this dojo held a number of great courses, seminars and uchi dechi. I'm greatful that I got to train there before Sensei moved!
