State of Mind in AikidoI wonder why I can sometimes apply a technique well and sometimes can't make the technique work! I have come up with the following conclusion that it isn't the technique it is my state of mind! There are many passages on the internet which talk about one's state of mind while training and if you haven't already I would recommend finding out about or asking your teacher about the correct attitude when training. It is important to be alert but not over eager, and to be aware of everything around not only the technique. It is also important to have the correct intensions in mind and all the while be focused on what you are doing. It isn't enough just to turn up, bow and do a few aikido techniques. It is important to be focused from the moment the belt is put on and it is important to take all the aspects of aikido seriously. This is not to say you cannot enjoy yourself while training though.
