As our mission, we exist as a church to support believers in their spiritual journey. We also exist to point seekers toward a God who deeply loves them. More importantly, we hope you catch a glimpse of how Southern Hills Church can meet your spiritual needs.

OUR CORE BELIEFS…

 

              Naturally, because we are a collection of diverse individuals, we all have slightly different values with regard to how we go about serving Christ. Yet certain common values unify our efforts and define our distinctives. With the Bible as our authority and the Holy Spirit as our Guide, the family of God at Southern Hills can summarize our core beliefs by using the following statements:

 

                           †  We believe that salvation is the free gift of God.

                           †  We can never make up for our sin by good works or self                                         improvement.

                           †  The death of Jesus Christ is the all sufficient payment for sin.

                           †  We must respond, in humility, to God's free gift by faith which                                 leads to repentance, baptism and following Jesus.

 

             By faith we confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Lord and Savior and are baptized by immersion into Him. God forgives our sins and comes to live within us through and by His Spirit.

 

Acts 2:38-39

Peter said, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."      (NIV)

                          †  We believe that we study the Bible to encourage us to develop a                             personal relationship with Jesus and to grow mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically.

                             †  We believe that by sharing our joys and burdens we develop a sense of belonging and unity.

Colossians 3:12-14

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
