Hey all -
How's it in your respective locations? Vancouver is treating me pretty damn well. As an arts student, I officially get to be in university while doing the barest of bare minimums of work. If that makes sense. All of you who haven't made any choices regarding university yet, I suggest the 4 years of party, followed by many many years of staving artist. Very glam. Basically, while the rest of the campus studies for their numerous very demanding exams, I'm sitting here listening to Christmas carols while I consider picking up the reading I need to do - at some point. I've been consiering it for about 5 days now. God second year is going to be a shock to the system. I hope that the holidays are looking good for all of you...I'll be in Toronto from the 13th to the 3rd and I'd love to see any of you who might also be there.
Well, got to get back to the importnt things that I spend my time on....
xoxo Amy

I just got a note in the email about.....

"A documentary exploring a historic Lake Timiskaming tragedy will air at 8:00pm Thursday on TVOntario.
The Studio 2 documentary, Accepting Risk:Outdoor Adventure Education and the Lake Timiskaming Canoeing Tragedy, reviews the June 11, 1978, outing involving 27 boys and four leaders from St. John's School in Claremont, Ont., in which 12 boys and one leader died of hypothermia.
The tragedy, which made headlines around the world and cast a shadow over outdoor education programs, will be reviewed in interviews with survivors, parents and heroes who helped to rescue the 15 surviving boys."

It's replaying Thursday the 11th at 11pm AND Friday the 12th at 2:30pm. it was really interesting for a trip leader.

Hey everybody!
Sorry I haven't really been keeping in touch, been quite busy. In response to your question Mo, yes, i got beaver fever. I guess those chemicals in the water didn't quite do the job. But i'm better now that i've got all those pesky perisites out of my system... ewwww! Anyways, guess what I found out! My mom used to teach May and her sister piano lessons when they were kids. Small world eh. Well, I'm glad that everybody's doing well. Amy, university sounds amazing! I'm so happy for you! (man, i really need to control my usage of exclamation marks) Anyways, I'm thinking of doing V1 next year, but i'm not sure if I should be spending that time working and earning money for university. Oh well. Talk to you guys later!

hi there ya'll,This is such a fun commmuication board. Geeez, i didn't even know it existed (not so good at exploring the wonders of the net!) But now i'm sitting right here beside Mo at U of Guelph having a little visit and he showed it to me. So, the school year eh! Well, i hope its going well for everyone,
Dulia- i was talking to Mr. B. a little about ya and about the spring canoe trip- some potential fun there!
Lukash Porter Blacker and Katie- i'm bracketing you two into the same box here but really, i saw the saturday night live thing about trabeck and it was the first time i saw it but i could actually quote it! i was proud of myself and i thought of you two! by the way did you two see that photo, day 8, #3? YOu two look like your kissing- i knew you were meant to be- hahaha!
Adam- any dreadies growing dude? hows the year treating you? school?
Amy- hope the holidays were awsome for you and its been great keeping in touch a little cuz i love to know whats going on in your world! It's always interesting and a fun story!
Chris- hey dude? hows school treating you? have you been out mobiling much yet this year?

I took a really neat course this semester and for the final exam there were 6 questions handed out prior to the exam and only 2 appeared on the exam (the idea is you need to prepare all 6 in advance) and one of them we had to do our own environmental assessment so i did it on the groundhog, learned a little more and had a fun trip down memory lane. Its great when you can make your education apply to real life- somehow it makes you care about what your learning!
Ok, cheers, and be in touch my email is the one listed on the web site if ya wanna chat more!
As for the upcoming summer, not 100% yet on where i'm going because i'm still working on trying to lauch the start of the cross canada canoe trip with Ev. Hey guys, don't you like it when people read your email over your shoulder? Ehemmm, Mo!!! haha funny! sorry, i'm going to drop the topic because he's getting sensitive. its ok mo!
Buy for now, be in touch when you have the chance. and katie i still want to have a sleep over at 70 Tyrell St. do you think it could work? let's work on plans.
ok by for real now.

Hey everybody! You all seem so happy! Yay! I'm so glad to hear that May has discovered the net! I'm proud, I really am. For more laughs you should check out www.homestarrunner.com and look at the strong bad (sb) emails. I laughed my pants off!!! (much to my surprise because I was wearing a skirt...) Hey Mo, remember you were telling us about that book about people living in an appartment or something... well... what was it called again? I'd like to read it. What else do I have to ask? Oh ya, do you guys have the recipy for bean salad with lemon and garlic? Do you even have any idea what I'm talking about? Oh well, I just can't get it out of my head! It tasted sooooooooo good! I want to make it for lunches and stuff. Wow, this is getting really long. Anyways, I'm not sure what i'm doing this summer and if i'll do the V1, i'll let you know as soon as i've got it figured out Adam. Well, luv all you guys!

Beware!!! Trip food tastes much better on trip!

"Chick pea salad"

-chick peas
-onions
-carrots
-celery
-garlic
-salt
-papper
-paprika
-lemon (squeeze out juice, cut up insides and throw it in too, use the peel too if you want)
oil
-any other pice that smells decent when you smell it.

* the secret is to let it all sit together for a while (couple hours) before eating

The name of the book is called 'Tales from Firozsha Baag' by Rohinton Mistry. Email me your address and I'll mail a copy to you if you want. The apartment building is India so the author uses a lot of Hindu terms in the book. If you get confused email me the word and the context it is in and i will tell you what it means.

I finally got around to reading 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel. I think you might like that book better. I can send you that one too.

cheers,
derek

Schools been going prety well, I've just finished my co-op placement working as a marine mechanic last week, and am now back in school full time. Winter has been prety good so far, theres lots of ice and snow in Honey Harbour. I've been able to do lots of sledding and ice fishing. I hope I will be able to see all of you at camp next summer.

Take care,
