San Diego is spending $827 million to build a dam, the first to be built in over half a century and behind the dam a 200-acre canyon is stripped of brush in preparation for flooding.

San Diego is building a dam in preparation for a drought that may come like the last drought that hit the county in the early 1990. the new dam is done in the year of 2011 it will be called the Olivehain Dam. it will be the first of three new projects.another dam that was created earlier will be raised another 50ft and plans or also underway to build a 12 mile long tunnel to connect the two forks of San Diego's aqueduct.

the $200 million dam is designed to withstand a 7.25 magnitude earthquake.in 2005 work is to begin on the 12 foot wide tunnel north of San Diego. tunnel-boring machines will break thtough rock as much as 300 ft.

i think that these new dams will be good for future use of water resources the end.
