My Precious Bug

Precious is a 1968 Beetle equipped with a stock 1500cc engine. The name "Precious" came from my loving wife “Gia” who is very much in love with VW classic beetle. As she has no plan to have a baby girl that's why i decided to adopt a beetle. I acquired my Precious bug last February of 2004.

Precious is currently under restoration. The floor pan needs to be replaced while the body was in a pretty nice condition- a few leaking rubber seals, and minimal rust areas, the engine experienced its own illnesses, but nothing that a few tune ups couldn't cure.

Her original color was Zenith Blue with code # L 639 according to her birth certificate. She built on September 25, 1967 and left the factory on September 28, 1967. Port of destination of course was in the Philippines.

Despite the engine's weaknesses brought about by age (which gradually disappeared), Precious still proved to be a reliable and fuel-efficient daily driver.

Precious's engine was still stock when i bought it from the first owner. It installed with generator. The pre-heater air hose still intact. But I need to convert it to alternator and remove the pre-heater air hose in preparation for air conditioning.

There are still a lot of works to be done with Precious. For starters, new floor pan and new alternator, new shock absorbers, new steering gearbox, disc brakes conversion. The goal of Precious restoration would be to attain its original condition with a conservative and classic appearance,

Future plans; Body repair and paint job back to its original color with some modifications, an air conditioning unit.
