Golf tip
One of the most
important and basic ingredients to a solid golf swing is a still head, no
matter what club you’re swinging. Keeping the head still
with your short game is also a lot easier than when the swing becomes
longer because of the back swing. Think of short tossing
a baseball. It is relatively easy keeping the head still doing this. But
during a long toss, it becomes much more difficult. The same process is
evident in the golf swing. The body becomes more involved. When that happens the head has a tendency to fly from a center of
balance. You can’t have a
consistent golf swing and move the head off of the golf ball. You have to
stay focused on what you are about to do: stroke a golf ball. It is
important to keep your line of sight behind the ball, all the way through
impact. If you are right
handed, a good rule of thumb is to move your head slightly to the right
immediately before starting your golf swing. This helps keep the head
behind the ball and promotes less movement of the head and vision during
the swing. Many successful golfers also use this head tilt as a timing
mechanism to begin the golf swing. A common problem is the
slice. If it’s happening to you try a more exaggerated turn of the head
toward the back foot. But remember to lock the head in place before
starting the swing. And, never lose eye contact with the ball. If you’re
having a problem slicing, give this a try. I’ve seen it work many
times. Joke
A man walked
into the clubhouse and noticed a friend sitting in a corner wearing a neck
brace. He sat down and asked his mate what happened. "Well, I was playing
golf and I hit my ball into the rough," replied his friend. "Then I met a
lady who was looking for her ball too. Finding mine, I thought I'd give
her a hand. There was a cow nearby and I noticed that every time the cow
twitched its tail there was a flash of white. So I went over to it and
lifted its tail and sure enough there was the ball. I called out to the
lady, 'Ma'am, does this look like yours?' And the
bitch hit me in the neck with her driver!" Check this out
