When Buckinghamshire born Laura Gomez is not writing scripts and fiction for publications like Snow Monkey, Lichen Journal, Velvet Mafia and Forbidden Fruit, or baking bread and cookies in a small shop in Somerset, little time is left.
So she spends the time scouting second hand book shops, reading books that she hopes will make her more intelligent, watching Annie Hall too often, and listening to too much Rufus Wainwright.
She also works as an artist, painting and selling original art inspired by cult cinema and comics. She was recently commissioned to design all the artwork for new writing journal TQR: a conceptually bizarre literary journal combining highbrow and low, and she is a collaborator in new illustrated pop-culture magazine r o b e r t.
Chalk Fairy, her novel about a young man's quest to return home to the abandoned ghost town of Chernobyl, is represented by a London literary agent. She is currently working on her next project Baking Archie, a quirky romantic comedy novel.
