This test is worth two grades.

 

It is important that you review the page numbers that I give you. The problems on this sheet are only some examples that may be on the test. Most of the test will be multiple choice.

 

Kinds of Sentences p262

Name the type of sentence (imperative, exclamatory etc.) and punctuate it correctly.

Sentence Fragments p264

4. What is a subject of a sentence?                                 5.What is the predicate?

Names who or what the sentence is about.            Tells what the subject does, has or is like.                       

 

6. What is a sentence fragment?

Group of words that lacks a subject, predicate or both.

 

7. The Americans disliked the British tax on tea. Circle the subject:

c. Americans

 

8. Johnny Tremain spied on the English. Circle the predicate

Simple and Compound Sentences p. 272

10. A compound  sentence contains:

Know how to change a base form verb to a past form or past participle.

 

15. How do you know if you should use the past form of the verb or the past participle?

If there is a helping verb in the sentence use the past participle form of the verb.

If there is no helping verb use the past form of the verb.
