Hand-Hewn Lumber: Custom hewn to your specifications We specialize in long and large diameter beams. Prices vary depending on various factors such as finish desired, specie of wood, diameter of beam, length of beam, etc. This site is for purchase of newly hewn lumber, not salvaged beams from days gone by. We can get salvaged hewn lumber but it is hit or miss. you would probably need to adjust your building plans to accomodate to the lumber dimensions you find, rather than the normal procedure of finding the lumber to fit your plan specifications. There are many ways/styles of doing this. Do you want broad-ax marks showing or just adze marks. Do you want the corners draw-knifed. Is this wood to be used sstructurally or just for show. As this hewing process is custom I would need to know exactly what is desired before a price could be figured out. Beams and planks are only the beginning. Parts for covered wagons/buggies, water troughs, etc can be hewn.There is not much that can not be made. The biggest problem is long heavy timbers. Over 60 ft. in length or over three ft. in dia. can be done but this requires large trees which of course becomes a matter of more money as first growth trees are hard to come by.
