This page gives information on how to make
your browser a faster, better running one.
Make a back up copy of all the browser files
before you do anything.
With Mozilla types you can not delete a setting
once you added one in there, that is why you need a copy of everything.
Take your time doing this stuff.
With Mozilla type browsers you can change
the settings in the about:config.
Using the settings on this page only works on
Mozilla & Opera browsers that have
"about:config" ability or "opera:config".
If you did not know, put in "about:config"
in the URL: box of your Mozilla browser or "opera:config"
with Opera
& hit enter. This gives you access to your
configuration files.
It is kind of hard at first to change the settings in Mozilla
type browsers. For the most part it is Firefox, Seamonkey
& some others out there. You can use Fasterfox to speed things
up easier, but for me to many plugins slow down
the browser. It would be best to not add more plugins to the browser
this would bloat it & slow it down more.
So for me I just get in & change the settings already there.
If you have FasterFox on your Firefox or
Seamonkey browser then do not do anything it might mess up
the settings in the About:config
As for K-meleon 1.5+ types you can just use the Macro file "dbSpeed.kmm"
to speed up things,
but with some K-MeleonCCF types you can not.
You can change it's initialpaint.delay, tracemonkey
& others but that is fast enough to be faster
than the dbSpeed.kmm file in the K-meleon 1.5+ browser.
This is due to the gecko1.9+ engine being
faster than the 1.8+ engine.

***To add a new setting to the Mozilla
configuration, just type in "About:config"
Then when in there just right click & go
to new,
then add what you want to add.
As in, add a new "integer" & name it
"nglayout.initialpaint.delay"
Then put the value "0" that would be one setting
done.
To change the value of a setting just click
on it twice & change the value, that is how it works.

*Changing your user agent for the most part to
me is to change what the browser tells your OS is.
If you are running an old operating system it
would be best to make the browser say it is something else
partly for security reasons.
The "KMFILES.7z"
file for the K-meleon browser has "dbSpeed.kmm, & the skins files.
It is a kit for the K-meleon
browser.
The dbSpeed.kmm file has the same Mozilla
speed settings as this page
that will work with Gecko 1.8.
It has only the speed settings it has no security
settings on it at all.

Opera on the
most part is setup fast it does have a initialpaint.delay like Mozilla,
but it runs kind of the different.
Located in "preference" "advanced"
"Browsing" Redraw. Opera did start redrawing in 0 seconds blanking
the screen waiting for content to come in. This
did give it some ugly page flashing when it loaded up. But now you
can change the redrawing time & there is
no page flashing as far as I can see with it when I load up a page.
The new opera runs different than the past
one. It might not blank the screen for content to come in any more.
I do know the new opera engine, but I know
it is fast, & tight. Sometimes it is too tight & from that some
websites
will not work right with opera. But for the most
part it is good.
It is not that hard to change the speed
settings in Opera, you do not have to add anything, just change it.

It is possible to compress your browser
files & to fix them so they are cleaner.
With K-meleon, Seamonkey & Opera browsers
& programs I used these programs.
((( http://upx.sourceforge.net
)))
Is what I used to compress all the .DLL,
.EXE files, and Java & Flash etc if you dare.
Download the upx file & put in its place
then Just drag all ".dll & .exe"
files you can find to the "upx.exe" file that
is in the program.
This is what I used mostly in K-meleon, Seamonkey
& others.
((( http://www.nuetools.co.uk
))) aka StripFile
This is used to shrink the ".HTML, .GIF
& .PNG files but not your bookmarks!"
This seems to be mostly in the Seamonkey browser,
in a small part of K-meleon
& the Opera browser in the zipped skin files.
((( http://csstidy.sourceforge.net
)))
Is what can be used in the Opera browser
it did not shrink the size of Opera but,
seemed to make things work a bit better. Just
drag all ".CSS" files you can find
to the csstidy, csstidy.exe file.
((( http://proguard.sourceforge.net
)))
This is mostly to compress & fix up
Java so it runs faster.
But as for me there is a lot of work doing that,
it just for small gains.
This is the numbers "Before & After"
compressing.

Tested 2 times at http://mootools.net/slickspeed
Tested 2 times at http://pcpitstop.com/internet/default.asp
Tested 2 times at http://www.acidtests.org
Tested at http://bcheck.scanit.be/bcheckThe PC is a Windows XP sp3
Intel Pentium 2.00 GHz 256 Ram.
The inernet speed is about 1150 kbps download & 250 kbps upload + -All Browsers are set up mostly as is for the test.
Based on the test, the results reflect browsers ability to rendering
a page fast & by it's usability. You can change the settings on some of the browsers to speed things up more, which I did
with "K-MeleonCCF ME 0.09 Beta4 V2" because it is one of the underdogs of the bunch.
The settings were changed in the "Properties / Advanced" part. The browser speed is found by 5 different ways, by the average time to render a page tested 7 times.
The speed & validity selectors test, tested 2 times, then all 10 results of the page are added up & divided by 10.
Then the Acid3 test is tested 2 times to make sure the numbers are right.
The Bandwidth Speed Test is tested 2 times the put in an average.
Each browser reacts different to the test, the Opera browser has a slower upload time than the others,
this reflects the need for the test. This is just for information on browsers on how good each one works.
